Yes it's def nice feature to have as a backup. It should be included in every 2SS, especially for the $5k extra.

My dealer is terrible with communication, so changing my order would make me nervous lol.

But like you said, built in NAV isn't a 'need' for me either.

Don't forget you can always have OnStar send you directions that will appear on the DIC and HUD. So you got an extra backup if you don't/can't use your phone.

This is the underlying reason for the on-board Nav. Mapping in areas where I don't have a cell signal. I love Waze and Apple Maps are usable. Ready for Android Auto so I can run Waze or Google Maps on the display. Every last one of those depends on external connectivity.

But, I often travel in areas outside of cell coverage and have on-board maps on the phone, but having them on vehicle is worth it as well.

Good point, but isn't Onstar NAV like $30 month? Ridiculous pricing

Not sure, but you get some time free with the car. I thought someone had mentioned you could get directions on pay per use. Maybe someone can confirm if that's true.

Hmm... That would be smart. Hopefully someone can chime in.

Not really pointless. You are right in that it's just another Nav system.

But with the factory Nav on a 2SS you get the Nav notifications on the HUD. I never experienced this until I bought a ZL1 with factory Nav.

I love it. I turn off Nav audio and the Nav notifications appear on the windshield only when needed. So I listen to music or an Audio book and can converse with passengers without an intrusive Nav system. For sure I can better focus more on road and traffic rather then looking down all the time. No phone connection problems or waiting for software for me.

I never would have ordered factory Nav, but the car I found had it. GM never had a great reputation here, but After using it for a few weeks, i"m now a fan. The integration is awesome, and voice control makes it all a no-brainer.
Glad I have it and don't have to work with phone kludges. I've yet to get Android Car to work...

Does your nav integrate into the HUD? I'm curious if there is any video available or if you are willing to make one to see this feature

Integrates with both the HUD and DIC. No videos here, but I'm sure there are some out there..

See post 1...

Since 5th gen HUDs became available, all NAV units display turns on HUD/DIC.

This thread was more about if Apple CarPlay displayed maps turns on HUD the way built in NAV already does.

I was glad I spent the 500.00. I love not having the music interrupted every time there is a turn, or it tells you to go straight so you don't exit. I have no sense of direction so I use mine quite often. One thing I did notice is it routes me around traffic problems automatically. I know google maps shows problem areas, not sure it automatically routes you around them. Coming home from Dallas one time sad it kept telling me to get off the highway onto these smaller side streets. I made the mistake of ignoring it and staying on the highway. Big mistake!! There was a fatality accident and I spent an hour stuck in that mess!!
So, if I had a chance to do it over I would definitely spend the 500.00 again.

I'll be saving the $500 to put towards either front splitter or the darken tail lamps.
