I got hit!

Very sad day guys, I was cruising up the street when someone pulled out to turn and hit me in the side, said she didnt see me. Both side airbags blew, car wouldn't start, I'm fine, slightly bruised shoulder. Heartbreaking day guys, I swear! I know it's hard to capture on camera, but if you can make it out. Think it's a total loss? Interior wise I couldn't close the glovebox, dash was bent in. Probably around 20 mph. This is my first accident I've been involved in, so if anyone has any pointers I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh Man! Sorry to hear. Important thing is that you are OK. If it is a total hopefully the insurance company does right by you.

That sucks. The last major wreck I was involved in, the day after the adrenaline wore off, I was extremely sore. I'd get checked out by a doctor if you feel some soreness ASAP. You'll need to get a copy of the ticket that was issued hopefully to the other driver (will let her insurance know that it was her fault). I'd try to get the repairs done at a GM dealership if possible as they are supposed to paint it to GM specifications if it's not totaled. If the frame is bent, they might go ahead and total it. The only problem with today's market it might be cheaper for them to try to fix it. Ask the shop that tries to fix it what their warranty is on their work. I had a Kia that was repaired, but they couldn't get the steering wheel to sit straight. I had to take it in a few times before I finally decided to just trade it in.

I'd go ahead and look for the exact same version of the car you have on Cars.com and other car sites. That color is going to be hard to replace, but get prices for the exact same car you have in the event that it's totaled. If it's not totaled, make sure you ask for diminished value as your car will be worth less with a wreck on its record. I found this site which might help. https://www.wreckcheck.com/

And in all honesty, the worst part about getting into a wreck is sadly the amount of BS you have to deal with the insurance and all the other crap to come. Don't get frustrated and just fight to make her insurance make you whole again. Good luck.

Depending on repair costs, they may try to total it. If you feel strongly against it you could lawyer up. Hope your ok.

That’s a bummer, can’t really make out the damage to the chassis with the door closed. Did you get a police report and was she cited?

If they do total it, you might as well swap the taillights and other bolt ons if they will let you. I’ve been looking for a set of those and I’m close to you.

That's some good info ty, yah just a sore shoulder for now. Supposed to talk to a claims adjuster tomorrow, car is in the tow yard as of now. If it does get totaled, how are aftermarket parts effected. Can I just show proof of purchase to get some money back, or can I take what I can from the car easily and replace with stock parts? Thanks for the best wishes guys /fingers crossed I heard them saying it was her fault, I didn't receive a ticket, just some paperwork. Haha sephx I'll let you know.

If you have the original parts you swapped, I'm sure you can take your extras off and leave the OEM parts. They shouldn't care, the value of the car as scrap is with OEM parts. You probably wouldn't even have to "reinstall" them either, just leave them in the trunk or cabin. Talk to the adjuster about doing that. I doubt they'll add value to a settlement for aftermarket parts.
The sad part is, it doesn't take much to tweak these unibody cars to the point they'll never be the same again. They can make it look new on the outside, but structure is forever compromised once the unibody gets tweaked, even a little. It'll never track correctly again; there will be squeaks and rattles; interior panels won't line up and can never be made to line up, and all kinds of stuff like that. Sorry this happened to you, and glad you're okay!

You should be able to show them the parts and have them replace them, but you might have to show them receipts. Also, please don't go all "Al Bundy"...

I'm so sorry to see this, good thing you lived to tell us the story, though. Hope the insurance company comes through for you. Definitely put back the OEM parts and sell these extras you purchased.

Man, a beautiful krypton green Camaro and she says she didn't see you ...

Maybe in theory.... In reality, not the case. Don't ask how I know. What I do know is I'd NEVER take mine to a dealer body shop again.

This is reality.

My guess is if you have a mushed dash it will be totaled.

Start digging out receipts for all the mods. If it's totaled, the insurance company is "buying your car". That means they own it. You do not get to take stuff off of someone else's car. If you buy it back from them, you can take whatever you want because it's your car again.

That totally sucks, I love that color. She was probably looking at her phone. Not sure how anyone can miss a bright green car.

The only experience I have had was when I wrecked my Hayabusa, I had State Farm at the time, and they gave me a percentage of what the aftermarket parts were back in a check, of course I had to show all my receipts too. I was able to go back and pick off what I could to salvage and sell that wasn't messed up.

Glad your ok, sucks about the ride, I wouldn't want it back personally. I would be hoping its a total loss so I could get a new one.
