Trust me, I lost nothing and the insurance company earned my repeat business.

Hopefully there aren't supply chain issues. I read about some people having their vehicles totaled where they would normally be repaired because the cost of parts is so expensive and unavailable right now. |

The moment I had a major change to my policy (moved across the country for the military), I called in for what I thought would be a simple change to my policy and a likely decrease in my rates. I was paying ~$2000/year with good coverage and a low deductible on my 2019 3500 dually. She literally asked if I was sitting down before she told me what my new rate would be, and if I was drinking I'd have spit it out: $12000 a year. I laughed, thinking it was a joke (we'd had a good rapport during the conversation). Nope - she was not. I dropped them like a bad habit and went back to USAA.

Guess I am lucky. I pay a total of $228/month to insure my car and mother's car. But I do know that insurance rates can vary greatly depending on geographical locations. |

I’m with GEICO and the at-fault party is with USAA. I haven’t had any issues dealing with their insurance so far… …but I am having issues finding a body shop that isn’t booked for 3+ months. |

Here's one thing that's always had me scratch my head about insurance. You buy a new car, and are quoted at let's say $100 a month. If you get into an accident shortly after buying it new, if it's totaled don't they pay the price of the vehicle? Fast forward to 5 years, and you're still roughly paying the same rate you did 5 years ago. If you have an accident and the insurance pays what a 5 year old car costs, why haven't your rates gone down in that 5 years? I mean insurance isn't going to pay you what the cost of a NEW version of your 5 year old car costs, right? Just something that's always bugged me about insurance. |

I finally found a shop that was able to take my SS without having to wait until March and they work with the at-fault parties insurers… …I booked the appointment out 2 weeks ago and brought it in. After filling out the paper work and dropping it off I was debating on Ubering home or calling the insurer and getting a rental…
The shop was in Round Rock which would have been a decent distance to Uber… I initially declined the rental but for convenience sakes and the fact I wouldn’t have to come out of pocket I called the insurer back and they got Enterprise to come out and pick me up within 15 minutes. So I got there and they told me that the insurer covers a mid-sized vehicle but they were out of those so they would step me a level up to a family sized vehicle … but they did have a Chevy Camaro for $5 a day… I was tempted but the whole reason of going the rental route was because I wanted to be cheap and not pay for an Uber to and from (as I will eventually have to take it back to the shop as well) and I declined… …well they went outside and looked and they were out of family sized vehicles as well (dang rental shortages) … and they told me they would adjust the Camaro’s rate so it would fall in line with the insurance coverage and gave it to me for nothing… I went outside and it was a red Camaro V6 (ironically the car I was driving before I got my SS, just a newer year) and it also was from Georgia (where I lived when I got my SS) .. I found that so ironic… …As a thank you, I declined all of their addons such as additional insurance, roadside protection, and everything else my regular insurance policy already covers just to make sure their non-paying customer totally got over on them …. Was a great way to start off the week |

I have learned to accept the liability waiver on fun rental cars. Especially if I got the chance for a Camaro. I'd be hitting my usual turns at 10/10 pace after scouting the route to see just what the platform can do. Or I'd learn how to drift with it and go through the entire set of tires. Might learn that F&F stare and drive thing too

I've already owned this platform so I know what it can do, I do admit it actually doesn't feel much slower than my SS when cruising and lightly to moderately accelerating but on the highway, hitting the gas from there is where you feel the difference.

Irony would possibly be if you got stuck in a rental that was the same make/model/color as the vehicle that caused the wreck in the first place, and then you immediately rear-ended another Camaro on the road. Or maybe that you drove off in the rental Camaro, and immediately got rear-ended by another car

Adjuster was supposed to show up at the body shop yesterday and never did, even told the body shop he isn’t even sure when he’s going to show up… …Body shop told me there’s a lot of damage behind the bumper cover. Didn’t go into details… waiting on the adjuster… Not sure what I will do if it is totaled. If I will get another 6th Gen or just let go for awhile.

Don't wait too long as they claim that the supply chain is only going to get worse before it gets better. |

The estimate came in this morning, $8k of damages.
Is now the time I need to ask about diminished value? |
