Service Rear Vision System

Hey guys, I got this message twice in the last month and I didn't think much of it. Today on my way to work, my left blind spot system was acting up; there was no car beside me, not even a car traveling in the opposite direction and it lit up and turned off and lit up again for no reason. And also, it usually lights up when there is a car stopped next to me at a red light per say, but now it doesn't... Issue or normal operation?

I never got that message, but I had that start happening to me last week during rainy weather - both sides! It did however, react properly when a vehicle was actually next to me. It was frustrating though when it kept doing it when there was nothing there.

The blind spot indicators use the rear parking sensors. They can have false positives as you drive by something that is within 15ft of the rear corner of the vehicle. Something as simple as a barricade can register. All it senses is a different in distance from the sensors while the vehicle is in motion. It cannot tell if something is a vehicle.

If you are at the red light first before the car next to you rolls up, it should go off briefly as it passes your rear bumper. If you pull up next to a car that is stopped first, it hasn't crossed the rear sensors and they would not go off.

As for your service rear visions system warning. That can be a loose connection or bad insulation around a connector allowing moisture. You should let your local dealer take a look to make sure everything is snug.

They replaced the camera in my 1SS to fix the rear vision system - twice in a month it said the same thing as you on the screen.

I've gotten the "Service Rear Vision System" warning a couple of times when it was raining.

Sounds like some part of the system isn't water tight.

Lol thanks guys for the help on this matter. totally off-topic, but I think I felt my A8 transmission slip today. the shift was very delayed and it feels like a bad manual shift, not jerky, but the shift wasn't smooth and it was on light-medium throttle.

Got the same message today @ 320 miles.

Do not believe it's related to moisture exposure. Happened immediately after I was checking the camera settings in the menu.

Camera still works. Symbols and lines no longer show.

Dealer said my car threw no codes whatsoever. but my engine oil was underfilled? weird as it was topped off like 500 miles ago. This is bad? it's eating lots of oil, but then again they only added 1/2 quart this time, but that's 1 full quart for 1800 miles.

i dont have blind spots as i have a 1ss but i had the rear camera **** up once or twice lol

I cleaned the parkimg sensors with my finger and the problem was gone.
