Accident

Some bad news…earlier today truck hit me. Chillin on the left lane just driving when BAM I feel my right rear side gets hit. Turns out the truck didn’t see me and hit me he was trying to merge onto my lane. He says the guys in front slammed the breaks but he didn’t see me. I was able to reattach the side skirt it clipped into place but this just looks bad bad. The wheel also got scratched up really bad. The vehicle seems like it drives fine no vibrations or anything so the wheels is ok but the damage just looks bad. I just want to know what you guys think of the damage and how repairable it may be. The sad part is I just hit 1500 miles brand new vehicle…

Looks relatively minor to me - hopefully just cosmetic. Of course I'm no insurance adjuster.

Kind of weird that the truck driver wouldn't see you when you were on his driver's side next to his front fender. All he should have had to do is look out his window.

This looks like a smart-phone/texting accident. The truck was obviously going too fast to stop and likely not paying attention.

That bites the big one. With a new rim, I’d say 5-6k… good luck..

Needs a 1/4 panel, that is not minor.

I had a harder accident but in the same area. Guy T-boned me in the rear wheel/quarter panel. When your car is fixed make sure all the gaps in front and behind the rear wheels are the same on both sides. If he hit your wheel hard enough your rear subframe is no longer square (happened with mine). Also make sure they get you a new wheel. Your alignment is likely messed up as well, they need to check all those rear suspension components.

Sorry it happened but your car can be repaired as it looks in the pictures. Good luck.

Based off the way a Camaro is designed I’m thinking how are they gonna repair it if they have to replace it because it looks like that part is attached to the whole frame of the vehicle it’s not a panel that comes off like the front and rear bumpers…are we thinking Chevy is the best place to take this too? I know some really good repair shops but since we’re going through insurance I may be best taking into a dealership directly…it’s just sometimes if not MOST times dealership work is not that great…I’m out in NY, Brooklyn area if anyone can recommend a good dealership worth driving to even in Jersey I’ll def take the drive out.

Sorry to hear about your accident. It sucks to have your new car damaged. I can relate. My car was hit by someone pulling out of a driveway on March 25. My car had approximately 3,000 miles on it at the time. Unfortunately, you may have to wait a while to get your car fixed. I couldn't get an appointment until July 10 to get mine repaired back in March. I'm still waiting for my appointment.

My guess is you are looking at 5k or more for the repairs. A 1LE wheel is a grand. And your rear quarter panel probably will have to be replaced.

Hoping they don’t have to replace the rear quarter panel, maybe they can repair…replacing that is structural damage and their goes any value I had in the vehicle…
Just want to say appreciate the love guys…but man this sucks.

At a good autobody and paint facility should be able to repair this well. Just get references and verify others customers who have had repairs done there.
If you don't mind, some words of advice. Accidents can and do happen anywhere, but I grew up in Brooklyn. I left there many years ago. It's (NYC) an unfriendly place for nice vehicles IMOP like Camaro's. The Drivers are bad, non caring, and go way too fast on most streets, the streets are rough and torn up, and not to mention break-ins and cars stolen. You need to work on plan to mitigate those risks in that environment moving forward to keep your Camaro nice. Example, just driving there, super excellent defensive driving skills and before hand intuitive prediction avoidance skills to know and feel these situations a are must just to get to point A-B without getting hit. It's not your fault, just a environment you have to deal with.

it sucks but i had worse damage done by a truck to my 2015 camaro.truck was passing me on the left on a 6 lane road when he clipped my drivers side quarter, which pushed me into the front bumper.destroyed the 1/4 panel, door and rear wheel on the drivers side and he pushed me sideways at around 60 mph for about 5 seconds before hitting the brakes and my car did a 180 and crossed the other 2 lanes of traffic backwards into the median.believe it or not the car was fixed by insurance at stingray chevy in plant city florida and has been fine ever since.cost was around 12k.you do want a new 1/4 panel, that one will never be right.found a little reminder of the wreck yesterday ,a chunk of glass in the seat track.its been almost a year and i keep my car very clean inside and out.
