Reduced engine power-P2089-->SOLVED
Hey everybody I have a built ZL1 (just over 1000hp) and I started getting intermittent "reduced engine power" messages last fall before storage. Now this spring it is every single time I start the car. It won't let me build any positive pressure so power is greatly reduced. There is no check engine light but code P2089 (intake camshaft position actuator solenoid valve control circuit high voltage) shows up on my scanner. When I try to delete it, it immediately regenerates. I initially thought it was from bad gas but I spoke to a local tuner that said he guarantees its not from the gas, I am now inclined to believe him as I have run an entire tank of 96 octane through now with no improvements. I just ordered a new solenoid, sensor and magnet, hoping that replacing these will fix the issue. Has anyone here experienced anything like this? Is there anything else I should be checking out? I have tried unhooking the battery and that had no effect. Oil pressure is fine. Oil level is good. There are no burnt or chaffed wires, all sensors are fully seated. No leaks anywhere either. I've searched extensively but I have not found anyone else that has reported a solitary P2089 code with no check engine light.
UPDATE--in case anyone has this issue in the future, replacing the cam position sensor, part #12623093 seems to have fixed it. So I am guessing P2089=bad sensor, P0010/P0011=bad solenoid Last edited by BoostMeUp; 05-28-2023 at 12:31 AM. |
