The SS on the other hand was obtainable for the common man in which you could bolt on added HP. Now anyone can go out, find and buy a ZL1. The badge unfortunately has become watered down but the build is an absolute beast that needs to be used properly. Its too much car for 90% of the drivers on the road.

For those who don't track and just want a piece of what's left of American history the SS with all the creature comforts is more than enough.
Totally agree! That is why I bought a SS over the ZL1. My current set up is more HP/faster than the stock ZL1 anyways

Either Camaro... SS or ZL1 (and LTs) is a great to have as GM sunsets the Camaro in 2024 (so they say)

How many of you who say "I don't have any of these craggly marks on my strut tower" are looking at it from the underside?

We all have the same aluminum castings. It shows up night and day when you see it against the light gray primer. I started this post because I wanted to make sure my car was safe to take back to the track this season. Thankfully, I now can be sure that it is.

To be clear this is not a casting defect. Your car is damaged, likely from a hard impact.

You be the judge on its safety, but to be very clear, I wouldn’t buy this car with that crack.

The first time GM offered the SS trim was in 1967 so those decisions were probably made 3-5 years before that came out so about 1962. The engineer was probably around 30-40yrs old at the time so he's around 90-100yrs old now if hes still kicking

Those are no cracks, they are painted over casting flaws, if that aluminum casting was cracked, there would be a cracked painted surface there also, the paint is not cracked. Same on my car

Same imperfections on my 2023 SS 1LE. Seems normal, just one of those GM QA things.

You didn’t see the crack in OPs photo where there is no paint? That’s a crack.

You mean the crack he said to disregard because it's not actually his car. That's why he circled some things and put a big X over the crack?

Missed that it wasn’t OPs car. Thanks.

Multiple posts on this so jumped too fast.
