Finally have a mounting design that I like. It's secure self-centering.
I will make some additional revisions to the S shape, i'm still not totally sold on this, but i've been at it for a bit. I will tweak until i'm happy with the shape. The stock logo looks like 55 so i'm not overly concerned with that aspect. But i'm still not happy with the letters. I am happy with the mounts. I now realize the focus was not on the clip, but you can see how the rear is secured. M5-30mm bolts are used.

I had previous versions that followed suit with the OG, but most of the comments were for the new, slanted version. I had an interim design that squared off the older S style, that I liked. I will keep playing around with it and maybe a silver inside to match my build.

So far my favorite has been the quick mock-up from post #23. It seemed to be closest, in relative dimensions, to the OEM badge down at the bottom of the lower grille, then expanded equally in each dimension.
Whereas the latest iteration, in my opinion, is a bit too big overall. But what I throws me off even more -- and I freely admit I could be wrong here, but it sure looks like it -- is that the spacing *within* the letters seems larger than with the OEM badge. There's more "air" between the horizontal red "slats", which makes it look aftermarket. Maybe see about simply scaling up the OEM badge, and seeing how that looks...?

Love the ingenuity, the third iteration looks best but maybe scaled down 75%. Nice work.

The main difference with the newest version is it's smaller overall and the sides (the two turns) are thinner, which I want to fix for the next version. You can see this in the recent group photo, the larger letters at the top are from #23. The vertical gap between each row is the same as the thickness of each row, but the two-color creates an illusion since you only see red, not red and black.

I too like the third, the one in my profile pic. I plan on remaking it in ABS with the new mounts and as a two-color but silver/black and not red/black. To me, it harkens to the original SS but the square shape matches the new style. I'm not a fan of the slanted SS and it feels like an afterthought by GM (which is supported by the size and placement of the badges on the car).

I just *knew* I was right!
Or something like that. Or, y'know, not at all... :-0 Seriously, very interesting how the "optical illusion", of the black trim on the letters visually blending into the black trim of the grille, made the badge look "too big" to me. I'd love to see how it would look after being altered to account for this, but of course -- and may I paraphrase something that was said elsewhere -- it only has to look good to one set of eyes. I also had not at all considered the complexity, of coordinating the mounting points with the shaping of and the angling of the letters, in producing a usable result. Lastly, while I might still prefer the red, I have now come around on the silver, as it not only complements the hood stripe, but also somewhat calls to mind the original / Gen 1 logo without clashing, style-wise. Great work all around. I suspect that a lot of fellas with the 3D printers will want your files once the final tweaks have been completed!

I just received my shipment of silver to use for the next iterations. I'm excited that I am getting close. What I have now looks really good in person and really pops, it really stands out, even across a parking lot. Thickening the ends of the S will bring it back to where I wanted. I will end up with a few variations. I still want to play around with an epoxy fill for a glossy color, then anyone can fill to whatever color they may want. All of my files will be shared publicly.

New week, new design, and this one I really like. I fattened the "S" and made the fillets more consistent. For me, this is a keeper, especially in gray.
It also pops at a distance.
