I was parked next to a car at VIR that weighed 1300 pounds and had a 140 HP Pinto motor in it. Watching that car change directions through T4,5 and 6 was telling. Light weight is worth more than massive HP, even at a big track like VIR. Now, if I could have both......

I know the a10 isn't as fast as the pdk but the m6 1le should be compared to the m6 gt4, and we'll see the split between the a10 1le and pdk gt4 soon enough.

If you are comparing on paper, sure. However, I am not.

I AM in the manual SS 1LE and WOULD be going to the PDK GT4 if I go that route, so for me, it IS the comparison I care about.

Fair enough. I meant on paper not necessarily your personal considerations.

These are the lap times by Automobile's Pro Racer Andy Pilgrim.

I think that the Corvette C8 Z51 would be a faster company for the Porsche Cayman GT4, which is faster than the Camaro SS1LE.

Yea the ss 1le and the 2016-19s GT4's were about even, the 2020's are a little faster for sure.

And will be quicker still with the PDK version, at least the 0-60 times and have better gearing.

I find that the SS 1LE is just about perfect power wise for the street and back roads, so for me I think the GT4 w/ PDK would be the perfect car for me.

Every review I have seen on it, they rave about how it feels to drive and that for me is an important thing. I love my SS 1LE, but it does drive heavy sometimes (because it is). Trading a sledge hammer for a scalpel with equal to or a litter better performance numbers sounds like 2 wins for what I am looking for.

GT4 is definitely faster at autox, it's classed SS which is the highest stock category, while the SLE is in BS, 2 classes down. The GT4 (2018 I think, M6) that shows up at most autox events here is often the fastest street car there and darn close to some purpose built machines. Obviously, talented driver required.

I'm sure you'll enjoy when you get it. It's one hell of a purpose built machine and meets all of your criteria.

This is why my M6 ZLE will be a very hard car for me to replace (especially when one factors in bang for their buck). I do love the brutish power everywhere/straight line speed from time to time and obviously the cornering ability. The only real knock is the weight of all the Camaro variants (and interior if one cares about that).

But, I know this is a SS 1LE vs GT4 so I get where you are coming from. The much lighter car with a high revving N/A motor is definitely fun to. And either are not "slow cars" by any means.

Kind of a crazy thought to think your ZLE is only 200lbs heavier than a base C8.

I understand your pain. In your case the argument is strong for a C8 Z06 as a step up, unless you want to go into the $200K range.

That is probably the most disappointing thing about the C8 is its weight. I'm sure the Z06 will knock it down some, but I doubt by much. This is another case for the GT4.

I think back to my C5 Z06, I do miss those days of a 3,1xx - 3,200lb cars with about 400hp. It is the sweet spot for a street car that you can run hard and still feels fast.

My H/C/I C6Z was 3150lbs with 550 rwhp. It felt dangerous, so I think you're right about the sweet spot.
