i drove a truck for many years and if a car is really close to the cab you cant see them unless the truck had mirrors on the fender and some trucks don't. and even then sometimes those mirrors are not adjusted right and causes a huge blind spot |

It looks like the rear bumper may be involved too. If you look at the seam where the quarter panel meets the bumper it looks tweaked to me. Maybe it's just the quarter panel. I'm thinking $8-10K.
Having said that, a reputable body shop will have it looking like new. |

they cut the 1/4 panel off at the bottom and about halfway up the rear window on mine, welded in a new one and use a thin skim of plastic filler and i mean very thin over the weld then prep and paint what needs painting.i also needed a new drivers door, mirror and clean set of shorts...had mine towed 60 miles to the chevy dealer in plant city to get it done there.has a lifetime guaranty on the repair and paint work and the paint job turned out perfectly.mine is blue velvet metallic and you cant see where the new paint ends and old paint begins.you dont want a shop to straighten that mangled mess and fill it with a half gallon of plastic unless youre trading it in soon.

Commercial insurance, get a lawyer and get a nice pay day. don't forget the depreciation value on your car and other things. should be able to get 20k-50k easily.

Agree on the depreciation value claim. At the end of the day, the other insurance should cover all costs since at fault and commercial insurance. You are in the driver seat on this.
When my Mustang was hit by a commercial truck (bent frame), they fully paid me out. At the end was able to upgrade my car from a Mustang GT base model to a loaded Mustang GT/CS convertible at no additional cost. Plus paid out an additional few thousand more, no lawyer needed. Best of luck and hope that this gets resolved quickly for you. Last edited by grgus73; 06-04-2023 at 06:10 PM. |

Had a similar accident, drunk driver made lane change into my rear quarter. they repaired the quarter and then it oil canned a bit back 2-3 months later. traded it in (21 on 23 convertible) and they gave me about 3k less because of the car fax. FYI sorry for your luck, it's a nice car.

Chill'n in the left lane??? I'm a truck driver and it's drivers who chill in the left lane that indirectly cause accidents.

Speed wasn't mentioned, he could've been chillin' at 85 That said, it is true that if you notice everyone passing you from the right, you're doing something wrong.

The biggest problem with the repair by far will be the paint. It takes a very good paint shop to blend in the color of the repair with the OE paint.
I feel your pain, I had my '21 FOUR days before a 20something lost control of her Scion, crossed two EMPTY lanes, during rush hour no less, and slammed the LF bumper and drove me into the concrete barrier ala Nascar. |
