need some help with temperature controls

All right guys, both the dealership and I are thoroughly confused and I would love some help.

2019 2SS, L99, RS, NPP otherwise stock car. Took it in for oil change and cabin air filter replacement...now the car is bi-polar on temperature for people in the car. Blows ice cold AC air out of the upper dash vents both driver and passenger side, BUT blows nice warm air out of body facing and floor vents AT THE SAME TIME.

we can replicate the problem every time and its consistent for both driver and passenger side. from 74 degrees on up, its almost identical...74 and under is split. The dealer doesn't have another camaro on the lot to compare another like car, and I cant use a 5th gen or older.

So if you sit in your camaro and look to the left of your steering wheel, there are 2 vents within inches of each other...in my car, the one blowing on the window for defrost is frigid cold, but the one blowing on my hand is nice and warm. Thought I had flat lost my mind!!

The one that blows on my hand I had to turn, my hand was getting frostbitten!

I do not see this behavior in mine, but I am a 1SS, so dual controls, not likely helpful.

so thats just it...I can control from driver to passenger, not dash vs body...its so bizarre. I grabbed a photo and marked it up, the colors are accurate to the temperatures...(blue cold, red warm) and its how they blow at the exact same time

Wondering if the dealer didn't disturb something under the dash when they changed the cabin filter.

Sounds like a blend door malfunction in the hvac system

Putting these pieces together raises some suspicion, two of the actuators are very close to the cabin air filter. Then again, it's quite hard to imagine how someone could mess up the simple job of installing said filter.

The shop had the car for 4 days. They have monitored all the blend doors, and reset the HVAC system and no change. They are waiting for a call back from higher ups in Chevy as they are wondering if there is a faulty actuator. They havent torn into the dash.

But like it was noted, seems odd that this would happen....sigh

I love your ideas and help, thanks and please keep them coming!

I have the exact same issue, 100%, and it's been like that since I got my car brand new from the dealership. All this time I thought it was a feature, not a bug. Maybe it is? Cooling the windshield's glass prevents it from fogging in winter and at the same time, I have hot air coming from the front vents

Well now, I don't feel quite so bad. Downfall, I live in Wy...and its gets colder than a witches tit in a brass bra...I don't need the help in cold air in winter time. and that was my problem, it was cold out and snowing...and my face was freezing!!

Dealer is still not understanding, so waiting for some insite.

thanks much

I will inquire about it with the dealer next time I go for service and will let you know, if that helps. In the meantime, make sure to enjoy your car, it’s not that big of a deal after all.
