Anything to cover before engine detailing?

Is there anything we need to cover up on the LT1 engine before doing a spray-down for engine detailing?

If you do decide to spray down, do your best to cover up all electronics , take for a good drive , so it dries out everything under the hood.

I have never covered anything in an engine bay when cleaning. Except if it has an open air filter I will cover that. Been doing that for years and after I am done I use my blower and blow out all the water left behind.

Never had an issue. All new cars are all pretty tightly weather sealed up on the connections. I personally wouldn’t use a pressure washer though. Only a regular hose for wash off.

I usually wipe down the underside of my hood and the engine bay after a 2-bucket wash, so the engine bay is usually pretty clean. However, I have hosed down the engine a few times and haven't had any issues related to doing so as of yet. I've been hosing down aircooled VW engines for a long time without covering anything and have never had an issue. And those engines are nowhere near as well sealed as a 6th Gen Camaro engine. I agree with 22SS1LE, don't use a pressure washer and you should be fine.

Sounds good. How about a hose nozzle using the shower setting? I've got some Griot's Garage Foaming Surface Prep to do the cleaning along with some Koch Chemie Green Star. And then Meguiar’s Hyper Dressing for shine.

I use P21s with a detail brush and agitate then rinse and blow dry. Words of warning, Don't hose down the hood liner use a damp towel and wipe it the best you can.

I just did my engine bay a few days ago. Just don't try to flood your engine bay and you will be fine.
