Demon 170

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...-170-revealed/

Why go out with a bang when you can go out with a nuclear incendiary event?

1,025 hp / 945 lb-ft on ethanol, 0-60 under 2 seconds, 1/4 mile in 8.91s @ 151.17 mph, $96,666 ($100,361 after destination and gas guzzler). Of course it’s a gas guzzler, how the hell can it not be?!?!

I have to give it to the people at Dodge for that one.
It's an unapologetic 1/4mi machine.

...and this, ladies and gentlemen, is the proper way to say goodbye to a muscle car line.

Intangibles like this move matter a lot, even though Dodge has the weakest and oldest platform, they are reaping the benefits of their smart update strategies. I'm sure this move will even help their Banshee and whatever mundane EVs they come up with afterwards be more successful.

It's a good send off for Dodge, but the difference is the final Camaros will be affordable and come on RS and SS trims as well as the ZL1. Not some rare and overpriced drag strip monster.

I do wish they would send off the Camaro with some special ZL1 or something along side these that actually came with an upgraded power plant, but GM just wants their profits and sacrificed the Camaro for that a while ago. It's been a fun ride, and I'm going to miss the ICE muscle cars.

gm, like all companies isn't here for the enthusiast. They're here to make money. Those two happen to go hand-in-hand sometimes, just not this time, and that really is too bad. Seeing this transition is hard to watch for those of us that prefer ICE. But the masses are the ones spending the money to keep these companies going. And even those that are still holding the line for ICE are by far and away the truck and SUV buyers. That's why they're keeping ICE moving forward.
Sadly, compared to truck and SUVs, cars are a niche market now, and performance cars are a niche market within that. So, that get us to where we are now, watching the last 8-ish years of ICE pony cars. I agree, it has been a fun ride. But it's not completely done just yet. We, the enthusiasts will enjoy what we have for as long as we can. Cheers.

Hats off to Dodge for having the balls to make that beast!
GM could learn a thing or two...

I’m sure Ford will gladly cash our checks with the Dark House. It was smart of Ford to commit to making a Gen 7 ICE Mustang with GM and Dodge bowing out… Anyone wanting a muscle car and/or “reasonably” priced sports car will pretty much have one option…and it’s not GM or Dodge.

Making money as a sole purpose is flawed, short term thinking.

Not just that, but GM are alienating a customer base that would've remained or become their future buyer population. I for one bought a Nissan, the first ever non-GM car in the family for my daughter, and unless something drastic happens, this non-GM trend will continue and expand with me and those I know.

Sure, one may say what does a couple hundred thousand enthusiasts matter to a company the size of GM, but these negative impressions 1) spread and 2) last a long time.
