Exclamation Excessive Oil in Intake manifold?

So I was installing the Chevy CAI and when I went to remove the throttle body I found what I consider a lot of oil. The picture below shows what I am talking about. Is this normal on this engine without a catch can?

I have 3K miles btw.

Well I'll definitely be getting a catch can. I'm not even going to ask which one to get because there are plenty of threads about that. Thanks for the response!

This is common with all of the LT based GM V8's. Be aware that unlike the past LS based port injection engines that could tolerate some ingestion, your GDI engine cannot. At 95% effective vs. the average Catch Cans at 15-30% effective your best solution is our E2 or E2-X systems designed for these engines.

Any technical questions, just ask.

We didn't have a problem mounting the Elite catch can in our 2016 . Great company and great product!

I have the E2 can, it won’t fit as placed on the strut brace due to the barbs being higher. It won’t fit as in the last photo, as it appears to be an e2x, which has a different mount. My e2 is supposed to be able to mount on my 18SS.

If you are not familiar with performance engines, there is a reason you have 10 litres of oil capacity for a 6.2. A catch can is a must for this engine.

Granted, it would have been nice for some sort of work instructions like most. When I first got mine, I was dumbfounded. Now that I look at it from a different perspective. this gives you the ability to mount anywhere. If your N/A most mount on the drivers side shock tower, but if your boosted like I am, that was not an option. This really took me a day with 2 different generic brackets from them to figure out where I can mount it. After speaking with their R&D department, they recommended me to mount in front of the engine itself. That's what I did. I feel that this way gives you the ability to mount anywhere you see fit. For this reason, is why they don't give you pre-formed hoses like Mishimoto (which in the beginning I also had and worked well).
