ZL1 at track cool down tips

Hey guys. I’m looking for any tips or recommendations on cooling the zl1 down after a 1/4 mile run to prevent heat soak. What do you pros do? Like should I leave it running to keep coolant circulating? Or just shut it down ASAP? Do you use ice? Just looking for some tips so I can try to make a hero run. Thanks

I like to leave my coolant circulating and I do that with the engine off, I have put ice on top of the supercharger when its really hot and having a fan to blow into the heat exchanger area like you'd do on the dyno, park where the hood shades the engine bay. SC's are a tough one to cool off when it hot like it is here in the Midwest.

Keep plenty hydrated so you can just pop the hood between runs and whiz on the motor. .

You don’t want to put ice on top of a hot supercharger.

No ice on top, but everything else the others have said is great. I used to program our old SC Buicks to override and keep the fans on for a bit.

How do you circulate the coolant with the engine off?

Stock, the answer is hood up and wait at least 30 minues. All those coolers are great on a race track bit do little at the drags IMO. unless you are ht lapping in 50 degrees F.

I see some bring battery powered fans for under the hood. Every little bit helps I guess.

The SC coolant reservoir tank from ADM may help a little. It is a must have if you intend to remove the SC yourself.

Weapon X is coming out with a chiller like the new Hellcats. I now see Demons running full time in the lanes? Anyone know if that really works with a chiller?

Our little SC makes big heat spinning so fast. So the bigger ZR1 SC is most likely better in this respect.

A centrifugal replacement SC or turbos are both good moves for better cooling and much more power!

Had no issues with the ice on top, I'd cover the SC with a towel and then put a bag of ice on it for a short period of time, the electric fans that run off 12 volts work pretty well and I've used those before. My system will continue to run, you just have to put the system in the accy. mode by holding the push button on without putting your foot on the brake, hold it for about 10 seconds or until the gauges come up and your good to go. I don't know how the system works on the zl1. You need at least 30 minutes or more to cool down depending on the temps outside and the intake temps may still be higher depending how far you are back in the staging lanes. ADM uses the Magnuson reservoir with there Lt4 packages if I remember correctly.
