Great,,, time to change everything about what we are using for oil.
Only available at the dealership or if you can find something finger F your keyboard for two hours.
GM teaming up with an oil supplier trying to make money through oil changes.
I went through this BS with my new Indian Motorcycle back in 14.
Indian stated to use only 20w40 Semi Synthetic Motorcycle Oil.
Who in the hell makes that Viscosity Semi Synthetic Motorcycle Oil?
Guess what?
At the time it was only them selling it.

It is not as bad as it seems
We can use 0w40 or 5w40 (dexos2) and quite a few are available per dexos website. Nowhere does GM say we must use Mobil1. However, they use Mobil1 as a factory fill and obviously have a corporate deal to supply dealers with it, which makes sense. Now that's better than before, as in the past dealers had only 5w30 in stock. Now they have both.

Sorry for the Rant,, I'm just getting over similar BS with Indian Motorcycle dealers telling me to use their brand of oil only.

I asked my wife to stop by the dealer and pick up just an oil filter for the bike, I already had picked up my Mobil1. 10w40 Full Synthetic superbike oil.

They harassed her for close to fifteen minutes trying to convince her she was stupid not to purchase the Indian brand and how our bike would be ruined. I phoned the parts department after she told me the story. Believe me those F-cks will never play this game with her ever again.

So what was the consensus on this? I have a 2018 and want to use the best possible oil for the car. My car does not get tracked very much, but can have frequent 30+ mile drives at 70+ MPH. Go with this stuff or stick with the old M1 5w30?

The engine didn't change in 2019, but the factory fill oil changed because Chevy decided it was better and worth the extra cost.

So I switched to 0w40 ESP Formula at my last change, and I intend to stick with it for the same reason.

Gunkk has put it well imo. Having said that, 5w30 Dexos is also fully supported by GM warranty for DD only.
Any hiway driving is far better and easier on the engine than city driving, so dont be concerned about it. To the contrary! If ya want the best possible oil then Dexos2 certified 0w40 or 5w40 trumps the 5w30. Plus gives ya felxibility of track duty. If ya want the best for your motor, change oil frequently and do your best to reach full operating temps before shutting her down.

Honestly you people could run the off brand gas station oil as long as its the right viscosity and you change it frequently...lol #snakeoil

Brilliant advice!

FYI, Speedway is still selling the 6 pack for $50, and there's a rebate here:

https://mobiloil.com/en/promotion/mo...-1-rebate-2019

Speedway isn't a listed retailer, so it may or may not apply.

I had the same problem with BMW when I purchased a new 2001 ///M Roadster. I took 5w-60 Castrol oil, and you could only purchase that from BMW. You couldn't even get it from Castrol...What a scam!
Eventually used Amsoil Motorcycle oil 5w-50 and all was fine!
Of course I did change oil every 5k even with the full syn oil.

It was mentioned somewhere in this thread, but I’m not sure if there was ever a clear answer: is there a difference between the oil labeled “ESP” and the oil labeled “ESP Formula?” Both are Mobil 1, 0w-40, and Dexos 2, but they technically have different labels and it seems like even different product numbers, according to eBay.

Just to add a little more confusion. What what about the Mobil 1 ESP labeled as "ESP X3" ?
Mobil 1 ESP X3 0w-40. The mobil 1 website shows it as the replacement for "Mobil 1 ESP 0w-40".
