Setting soundstage low

I don't know if this have ever been discussed but has anyone thought of installing a set of 6.5" components in a custom made 6x9 baffle to fit the doors? I'm talking about relocating the mids and tweets to the doors.

No, no one has done that on these forums. I'm sure someone somewhere has done it , but personally, I would never set my sound stage that low. The imaging would be less than optimal.

You have the 2SS, you have the Bose system. Ive seen discussions already where its been agreed upon that you either replace ALL the speakers, or the entire system, or nothing at all. If you are trying to just move speakers around id advise against it. If you want to add aftermarkets speakers to the other stock speakers, id also advise against it. Too many issues.

Oh no lol...I am replacing everything. I already have most of my equipment except for the NavTV and 6.5"s in the back. The reason I ask is because there's enough room there to keep the sound coming from one location.

OH! Okay gotcha, thats way better. Honestly I would try to keep midbass lower and vocals up higher. It depends on what exact speakers your going with but anything is possible if you have the money and/or time.

Regarding lowering the soundstage, my question to you would be, why are you considering doing this?

Some drivers and tweeters sound best on axis, some are designed to be placed either on axis or off axis.

Either way, if you are considering setting a low sound stage, then you will want drivers capable of handling a lot of power, high powered class A/B amplifiers , or hi-fi class A amplifiers to drive the sound loud and clean. Otherwise distortion will be an issue trying to play music loud coming from the floorboard. But it can def be done, I have heard great systems in the past with low sound stages, but these usually involved Hi-fi drivers and amplifiers
