Glad I found this thread, as I was driving home yesterday I noticed the 1st - 2nd didn't feel smooth in my opinion.
I knew Amsoil had a trans fluid as I've tried it in the past, as well as Redline.
Both of these oils were use on a lot in the BMW world.

I used Amsoil in my 911 after a rebuild and it worked great...clickity click shifting. However, what they have on their website now does not look like what I used...then again it was a heavier oil too.

I may need to check out the RP oil now...got some fluid changing to do!

I was happy with the OEM fluid but, after a few track days I flushed it out with D4 and there has been a noticeable improvement at elevated temps on the track.

I've always used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in my C5Z. Thoughts?

Redline D4, drained through the sensor plug location as well. Way smoother shifts when cold.

GM fluid was terrible. Switched to Redline D4 ATF and all is good

I have used Mobil 1 in my other vehicles as well. Also would like to know if anyone using it in the SS 1LE or reason not? Is the refill (4) qts?

I spoke with a Tremec rep at a car show about fluid, and he recommended their own brand of fluid. He said it was introduced last year. Has anyone tried it?

I switched out to RP Syncromax about 1000 miles ago. At first I wasn't sure if I got a big improvement. But now I am glad I made the change. The shifts are less notchy now especially the 1-2 and the 2-3 which were sometimes annoying with the OEM fluid.

Completely changed the feel of my shifts, in a good way.
So much so, I'm going to stock my garage cabinet with some RP for future fluid changes.

I just swapped out to the Redline D4 ATF. On cold mornings the 1st and 2nd gear is still notchy. Once it warms up it's all good.

Just drained the Royal Purple Syncromax this weekend and installed Mobil1 multi vehicle syn ATF. Back story, I swapped the OEM oil at 1600 miles as it shifted horribly in colder temps, the RP was well regarded and was a huge improvement, for awhile. I'm now at 17K miles and it has seemed to shear out of grade as shifting was getting crunchy in all gears. The Mobil1 has restored the smooth shifting, we'll see how long this lasts.

To answer your question it's just under four quarts, some is retained in the cooler.
