A10 SS 1LE Driving Impressions?

Anyone out there driven the A10 1LE extensively? Can you compare to the 6MT? Can you compare to others, ie 718 gts PDK, m3/4 DCT, other ZF A8 competitors?

I was on track with one. It seemed as fast as the 6 speed lap time wise. It did get towed away one day, don't know why.

Shift the car into reverse while driving on the freeway can be expensive in an auto. I heard from dealers here in CA that they order a lot of autos as they shift faster and people prefer it on the track. Not sure since I had to order mine out of state for the manual. The a10 in my raptor in sport mode holds to redline, but upon decel it seems to hunt for gears. Sometimes it will slam from 4th or 6th down to first when coming to an abrupt stop. Hope it holds together, but glad I got the 8 yr. warranty.

I went from a 2016 SS A8 (not the A10 you asked about) to a 2018 SS 1LE M6, and I much prefer the manual. Yeah, I know the automatics are supposed to be a tenth quicker through the quarter mile. Perhaps if I did a lot of quarter mile runs that would mean more to me, but since I'm using it as a DD, the M6 is just much more fun.

One thing I didn't like about the A8 was the number of gears. There are too many of them. I found myself searching around with those stupid paddles trying to do multiple downshifts, having to look to see what gear I was in. From my perspective moving to a 10 speed would make that even worse.

With the M6. I have four solid gears to work with and two overdrive gears for cruising. I know the shift points well and even if I didn't have the HUD, I would still always be able to tell what gear I'm in.

Nothing will happen to new cars in that scenario. They are programmed to not commit suicide should that happen.

I love mine. At first it was very hard to adjust to it from driving a manual for so long, but I can tell you the shifting is spot on and holds the shifts as it should for maximum performance depending on the mode (Sport, Track) I personally really like it.

I had a 16 2SS with an A8 that I tracked quite a bit. That car made me never want another manual. I did get into a 19 1SS 1LE with the M6, which i also track regularly, and have to say it’s really good. If I were to order a new one, I might go with the A10 in the 1LE. I could see the gearing in the A10 help the car out of corners. It’s the only issue with the 1LE manual, sometimes it doesn’t pull hard enough out of a 3rd gear corner. That’s where the ZL1 and S/C really shine. I feel like the A10 might be a little better in that regard but it would be close. I’d certainly try one.

He asked about 1LE A10 driving impressions, not “why did you go from an A8 to an M6?”

I believe my impression with manually shifting an A8, ie that it was too hard to find the gear I wanted, would be equally if not more applicable to an A10. If it bothers you that I posted that, why not just skip it rather than get snide?

I don't find that number of gears directly affects this. I've driven A8 cars that hunted and A8 cars that were smooth perfection.
