I was thinking about doing this to my 1SS but not now. Not after reading how much of a pain it can and probably would be........

I cursed everything and everyone after spending almost two nauseating hours with my head tucked under the glove box, feet up on the passenger seatback. In the end I had to ask for some help with fastening the last two bolts.

Maybe it's a bit easier to work the two rear bolts with an endoscope camera or a mirror, but the placement of these is a gigantic PITA no matter what.

On a positive and more conclusive note, however, it's absolutely worth it in my opinion, the color footwell lighting adds quite a bit of ambience when taking wifey out.

I got it done at the dealer. They charged me 600$ for total and i got the lighting from shopchevyparts for around 500$. Everything worked after that. Center console light wont be changing colors. So i bought Multicolor led and tapped them to exisiting lighting, so everything changes now

If anyone is still monitoring this chat by chance I have had a nagging question for the past few months that I can’t find an answer for. I have a 2017 LT with 7” radio and I keep seeing that the spectrum lighting doesn’t connect to this radio. But the area where the HUD control would be that I keep seeing is where this would connect didn’t exist in my car. There’s no cut out or anything it’s just solid plastic. Do they have to cut out the plastic for this install to install the control unit? Thanks for the help!!

Hope I didn't misunderstand your question, you want to install a HUD switch and there is no cutout for it in the instrument panel, right? If yes, then I'm afraid you either have to mangle it, or purchase part number 84225815 online or at the dealership, then rebuild your instrument panel with it (you most likely have part 84225813 on your car).

Dealership charged $1120 to install the spectrum lighting on my 2019 1SS/1LE. I wouldn't have paid for it, but glad the original owner took the hit for me! It looks and works great! I like changing it up with the different color knee pads. Got the car for a steal with only 7,000 miles on it for $33,000!

Did the lights illuminate at all before the BCM and HMI flash? I just finished mine and nothing is coming on at all. Thanks

Hey all,

Looking for clarification before I purchase this myself. Looks like ZachU has the same question

If installing the door spectrum kit, will it just light white if the BCM and HMI is not flashed? Or must it be flashed in order to even set the color to white?

Also does the radio lights turn off with install the door lights? Or just simple does not control colors as they are obviously not RGB unless swapped.

Pretty sure they will just glow white if they already glow white beforehand they won't stop glowing white.

Yeah the lights on the radio are only white unless you change the diodes. Mine all works great but have not done the radio yet. The door lights along with the footwell were not functional until the BCM and HMI were both flashed.

anyone still monitoring this? If so is there anyone in the northeast that is able to do this work? Including the radio? I have no experience with anything electrical or wiring. But really want this upgrade.

Thank you!

Can anyone help? I'm in the middle of the install of these lights from wildhammer.com. I got the door and footwell light package. on this step---

Note: To access connections on the radio, remove radio and bracket.
19. Locate radio, if equipped with BYOM Radio (2) remove connector X1 and using provided posi-tap splice accessory harness power
wire (1) circuit 340 (RED) to connector X1 (Cavity 11). If equipped with Uplevel Radio (3) remove connector X3 and using
provided posi-tap splice accessory harness power wire (1) 340 (RED) to connector X3 (Cavity 8).
20. Reinstall connectors, radio and bracket.

It doesn't show which one is cavity 8. Does anyone know what this is? Also why can't I tap into something else, easier?

Thanks-Frustrated Installer

Holly hell, I just saw this... Lol. Yes. I emailed wildhammer, where I purchased it and a guy got back to me right away and emailed me updated instructions which helped me complete the install. However, I had a hiccup in that I put one of the pins in the wrong hole and didn't think I could get it out. I luckily had a depin set in a interior trim removal kit that I didn't know was there. So I was able to depin the pin and put it back into the correct hole.

I finished everything and brought it to Chevy and they flashed everything. It took an hour or so and 180, but it's done and I love it. I actually like the white light around the radio. I use red to match my car color and red around the radio would be TOO much red for me. So, all in all it was one of the best mods I've ever done.

I appreciate the help and the attention. Now I'm waiting on my Trifecta tune coming Monday. Then I'll add the GPI LT2 intake.

Thanks again.
