You won't pass a California smog check if you swap engines.
The VIN says it is supposed to have a V6.

What?

What's the point of the E-ROD LS3 then?

I wouldn't even waste my time or money doing the swap. You will have to change out way too many things to handle the bigger engine.

think about it.

you'll pay not just for the engine but a whole new parts that will come with that engine cause V6 parts will not work with V8 or supercharged V8 engines, and then after a while you'll say i need to change the looks and rims and the interior.

why taking the hard road while you have an easy one, trade it for and SS and then start modding.

Like others say. Trade. You would have to do too many upgrades to handle the power. A good part of the suspension and drive train including transmission. Money ahead to trade for what you want and mod form there.

If you do this swap, you need your head examined also.

The problem with the engine swap is it will require completely different wiring harness, most of it custom made. Then you will have to deal with getting the different control modules to work with each other. If you have a manual transmission you will have to upgrade the V6 clutch. Upgrading the brake lines to stainless steel will fix the fade issue. Otherwise, the suspension, brakes and transmission on the LS/LTs are more than sufficient to handle the power of the L99/LS3/LS7. If you want to race, then you will want to upgrade the suspension parts regardless of route you take.

If you do an engine swap you've lost your warranty. If that's important to you then try to find an used SS with some warranty left.

Turns out I'm facing this issue... Blew the engine in my last week. Dealer is looking into it for me. I'm thinking about even money. I'm losing my ass on replacing the original engine anyway, and I will not trust this v6 engine anymore. My other option is trading it in on a new one and going upside down @4k AND getting another 5yr loan with another $120 added to the payment. I'm in a tight spot!
