Crate Engine Compatibility?

Looks like I may need a new engine in my 2010 SS with automatic transmission.

Is my stock engine controller kit compatible with the Chevrolet Performance LS376/480 495HP Hot Cammed LS3?
http://www.gmperformancemotor.com/parts/19301358.html

If not, i'll prob put in another L99.

Are there any other engine options that would work with my current stock setup? i.e. engine controller kit, transmission, engine compartment size? If I could afford it I would drop in a ZL1 supercharged engine.

I am looking for any and all comments. Thanks.

You'd just need a custom tune. Plenty of people have done conversions to the ZL1 engine and some to an LS7 as well. LSX454 is also out there but a steel block so adds weight.

Upgrade for sure. It will need a custom tune, but that's pretty cheap in the scope of things.

Update: i blew the piston ring in cylinder #2. Complete engine removal and overhaul. Estimate $3,000. No new engine for me yet.

Crate motor and tune is direct bolt in. I pulled my LS3 with 651 miles on it for a LSX 376 crate motor. Been racing it for 5 years now.

I have this crate engine in my 2010 SS/M6 with headers, HF Cats and CAI. With a Jannetty tune, I couldn’t be happier.

I think only a L99 stock engine with stock (OEM) cats is legal in CA. There are CARB legal modifications, such as Edelbrock's blower, etc, but CA is tough on modifications. I haven't seen any CARB approved cams for the L99, but they may be out there.

INSTALLATION NOTES
• Assembly does not include any electronics
• Use LS376/480 Controller Kit, P/N 19354330 for engine operation. Kit includes electronic throttle pedal, which is required for throttle input to the ECU
• Includes Chevy SS wet sump oil pan
Intended for pre-1976 street vehicles or any off-road vehicle
• Not intended for marine applications
• Front-End Accessory Drive Kits are available in two configurations.
Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines include a 24-month or 50,000-mile/80,000-kilometer limited warranty.

Actually Edelbrock supposedly just came out with LS performance cam with Carb approval but the specs are not out yet they showed it at SEMA............

No, I've read the CARB rules, I don't feel like looking it up now but it said you could replace an engine with another engine offered in the same body style. E.g. You could take the v6 and put in a LSA supercharged motor as long as you put in ALL the controls and emissions parts that were on the LSA. This of course doesn't include mods, tunes cams headers etc.
Any "mods" would need CARB approval to be legal. So engine swaps can still be emissions legal and not need a CARB specific exemption.
Technically that cammed crate engine wouldn't be emissions legal.
It's good to know the rules. Worst case is people ignorantly changing out everything then can't pass smog and have to sell the car for a big loss to out of state buyer.

This is all good info. I ended up swap a crate L99 in my 2010. The Chevy dealership is performing the swap.

When i asked about the other hotter engines, the service dept wanted me to prove they were CA legal. After i realized that i may have to also buy a $1,200 engine contriller kit i decided to stick with the L99.

This is costing me $7,270 includimg labor.
