Has anyone done any cosmetics to the brace to give it a more life. It is ugly, I am not really wanting to replace it, more just - maybe paint it? Polish it?

The strut tower brace. Awful might be a bit strong but... it is not good looking

Might just need to paint it body color.. or polish it.. or dont open the hood.

I painted mine in 2 colors to see if I liked it - Orange and Black - I also painted the middle of the engine cover...I am happy with the results and will be buying a closer orange color to match better...

Sorry Farmerfran, I thought You were referring To some strut on the TOP MECH.The Strut brace under the Hood looks Great on Mr Goodwrench's car!!!! Painted with the proper prep and Primer is a MUST!!!

i have been thinking the samething on my vert. I think even painting/polishing it, it will still look ugly. I've been eyeing up some BMR strut braces and they look a LOT better.

Maybe just vinyl wrap it.. try a few colors and combinations and see what you like.

As plain as they were on the 5th gens....I haven't done anything on my 2019, but here's a photo I still have from my 2015 1LE engine bay. Strut brace was was powder coated 2 colors.

I have always wanted to anodize mine blue, but now not sure if it’s going to stay once I swap the intake to the C8 since it’s taller I dont know how much room is left before it contacts hood.

I had mine powder coated gloss red with satin black ends

Many thanks for the positive comments. It came out as I had hoped with a cleaner look that fits the Orange/Black motif of the car instead of having the silver under the hood or on the car. I have more things I want to get done - one is to find an Orange or Red GM Air Filter to replace the Blue one - I think that will look good as well vs the blue.

As for prepping the bar, the car is brand new so that really helped with the prep
I cleaned up the brace with soap and water, then alcohol wipes. I then put on 2 coats of Primer on the whole brace & Engine cover. I then painted the cover and taped off each section and painted the top coat 3-4 times. I also painted the bolt heads black as well to match the 'feet' of the brace. For those doing these types of things - the details make the project so don't skimp or skip over them - this would look horrible if I left them silver. I am happy with the way it came out.

On my 2014 I wrapped the Strut Brace in White Vinyl - that came out pretty good as well and as some other posters have stated - you can try out a few colors until you are happy with what you want - then you can leave it (mine was on for 5 years when I sold it) or remove it and then paint it the color you are happy with.
