Thank you for that link, I found it very helpful.

I'm actually thinking along the same lines as the OP, although I would like to retain my stock wheels (since my car unfortunately had some $1495 optional wheels....But, they do look nice). As such, I'm limited to the lousy 8.5 inch width though :-(

Anyone have any input on these tires? They appear to be available in stock size 245/40/20 as well as 255/40/20 and 265/35/20. My car is a lease, and since I am pretty sure I would need to replace the tires before turn in (39 mos/10k mile yr lease), I figured I might as well put some better ones on now for me to enjoy and keep the stockers for turn in. I have AAA, so I am OK getting away from run flats, LOL.

Thank you for the reply. Are yours 265/35? And how
much sidewall "bulge" do you see?

Here's another one in case you want to see more of the clearances involved and a detailed fitment analysis: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=50mm&sr=0mm. It even offers one-click alternatives to play with.

I don't know why anyone would put 265/35/20 tires on an 8.5" wheel. The manufacturers recommend 9-10.5" rim widths for that tire. So it's not a good idea and it won't get you any extra performance. Even the 255/40 is a squeeze. Although it's technically within the rim width recommendations, it won't give you any better performance than the stock 245/40/20. In fact, it will probably be worse because it's a bit taller which reduces lateral and braking grip and reduces your overall gear ratio a bit. Wider is generally only better if you're also pairing it with wider wheels.

Thank you for the reply.

I see that there are some great deals on 255/35/20 out there.....opinions on the smaller overall diameter? I think the rim width is OK, but the tire height will be 2-2.5% smaller compared to the stockers (245/40/20).

That will still be a bit of a squeeze onto an 8.5" wheel, but at least it's within the manufacturer's recommended rim width range. If you're replacing all four tires with this size, I don't foresee the diameter being an issue. That tire has 27" diameter, which is right between the front and rear diameters of the stock 1LE tires. So it will function well for you.

Thank you for the reply......and yes I would be replacing all 4 tires at the same time.

Im just not sure if I want to go with a shorter tire and get a slightly different wheel well gap. I suppose the change is small enough that visually it may not make a huge difference.

are those 30 aspect ratios? what offset your running? 23/43 seems common with 10 and 11 inch rims.
