Question headlight bulb advice...

Hello.

My headlights currently have and use the h7 halogen bulb. I would like to get some that will look bluish like my fog led lights on my 2017 camaro.

some guy over at a dealer over here said to get some blue hid ones.

Can the experts here let me know which ones are good and wont break the bank?

thx

I have not used them in my Camaro (H7) but I am a big fan of JDM Astar LED bulbs. I have used them in multiple applications and you can't really beat them for the price. I am currently using 9006 and H11 in my Civic and was using 3157, 3056, 7440, and 194 in my truck before I sold it. I buy them from Amazon.

Blue light is defused more by moisture and dust in the air, so visibility is impaired by glare.

I don't get the appeal of blue lights, and here in New England where we drive in a lot of wet weather, they are very rare even in sports cars.

I would imagine that they don't work particularly well in dusty areas either.

It really depends on how you define "blue".

I assume that the OP is talking about bright white or hyper white. These would have a color temperature of about 4500-6000K. This is considered "cool white", like daylight bulbs or hospital lighting.

Standard Halogen headlight bulbs run 3500-4500K and are considered "warm white", like a reading lamp in your house.

This is a decent color chart. You are right that above 6000K is starts to become TOO blue and you end up losing visibility.

i think bright white or ice blue i what i am talking about. they look more like the color of my fog lights. I keep seeing different camaros on the road and their fog lights, eye brow and the headlights look whitish to bluish color. that is what i am talking about. but like i said my after market lights use h7. what bulb would i need to install to have it look those colors? thx

I was told this past weekend by a guy at an auto parts store....that my headlight will only be able to take hid or regular halogen h7 bulbs.....NOT led. He said my headlights have some sort of a magnification area and led bulbs push out the light to the sides NOT the front so wont work for me.

any ideas on what hid will work with the whitish...bluish color that would be in h7 and will not break the bank?

thx

I would stick with 6000K, 8000K will have a LOT of blue and will have reduced light output vs. 6000K
