Question Opti-Coat or Wolfgang uber ceramic coating ?

Am wanting to put some protection on my car. Can't decide which to go with. Heard good thing about both. So which is better? Pros and Cons ?

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

I doubt you'll be able to tell a difference between the two ......go to the detailing sites and ask this question autogeek or autopia.

Prep work is the most important thing if you are going to go with a coating.

It's a LOT more work to get the paint in the best possible condition before you coat it as they can last 1-3 years or more.

I put Pinnacle Black Label Surface coating on about a month ago and am very happy with it. Its amazingly slick to the touch and GLOSSY.

The two you listed are very similar and rank well in ease of use/application.

Also, coatings GREATLY limit your options for aftercare products. Often its best to buy whatever companies entire line for synergy.

I've never had a car coated. I was under the impression that only washing or spray detailing was necessary. What aftercare products should I be concerned about?

You are correct, taking care of coated cars is super easy, its just that you want whatever shampoo, quick detail, booster to be synergistic with each other and not MASK the coating.

With waxes and sealants you can use almost any combo you choose. They almost all 'play nice' with each other.

With coatings the number of shampoo, QD, booster, ect are quite limited in comparison.

Spend some time on autogeek. Tons of good info

Again... the most important thing is to decontaminate, compound, polish, surface clean.... then coat. Its quite a process. If you don't machine polish your cars, sealants and waxes might be better.

Six of one, half dozen of the other. I just used Wolfgang on two of my cars and couldn't be happier. Search my user name for pics.

I've heard good things about optimum.

I like Chemical Guys M-Sealer, then Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish, then premium grade A carnauba creme wax.

Info from here and AutoGeek. Also, there is a very good detail shop near me that recommends and uses Opti-Coat. Might just have them do it and save myself the trouble. Just got back from vacation at the beach. Car is filthy. Bugs, sand, thunderstorm residue. Needs a complete detail before any coating anyway. Maybe another birthday present to self is in order.

have the detail shop do a stage one, and possibly stage two polish before coating goes on. It's absolutely necessary you do a polish before you apply the coating for best results.
