Garage Door Opener

For those that have a 2019+ vert where do you keep/mount your garage door openers since our vehicles don't have the homelink? Mines in my cup holder, but that's getting a bit old. The visor is too thin to hold the remote clip. Looking for ideas. Cheers.

my '16 had homelink, but my Tesla doesn't, I just keep it in the door pocket/tray thing, works fine. use the clip to keep it from sliding around.

I bought a bluetooth device called Garage Mate that wires to your opener in the garage. There is an app that controls it on my iPhone which is always in my pocket. It is set up so that all I need to do is tap the icon. Works well for me.

A friend of mine mentioned that to me the other day, problem is sometimes I just leave my phone at home and just drive. No one calling or texting me... just the road and my music

My 2020 Silverado did not come with Homelink. I bought an overhead console from an auto salvage company on eBay that had the homelink. GM overhead consoles usually just pull straight down to remove, no screws, plugged the new one in and now I have homelink in my truck

I have mine attached to the visor with no issues. I think I may have bent the clip to make it a little thinner, but no issues holding. I clipped it from the windshield side so it wasn't folding the visor down at all

Mine is installed under the bottom of the steering wheel in the recess above the knee panel on the lower dash. It sits vertically at the back of that recess so that lowering the tilt wheel would never be interfered with (although you wouldn't be able to get your hand in there to operate it with the wheel all the way down).

It's hidden but accessible and I used a couple of very small pieces of 3M double-sided tape to ensure it doesn't move or rattle. I can remove it whenever I might need to with no damage to any of the surfaces.

Were there reasons other than cost cutting behind the removal of Homelink in 2019?

The put the camera-fed rearview mirror in there instead and moved the OnStar buttons off of the mirror to the overhead console. It's a space thing... As in, there isn't enough of it.

Personally, I hate that camera-fed view and will never use it. But, that's largely because I have a convertible. For those with a coupe, I could see where it could be useful.

On the rare occasion that the top is up, I use the camera mirror feature. When the top is down I use the traditional mirror.

Does anyone with a windscreen and a camera mirror find the mirror cam better than looking through the screen? My only quibble with my windscreen is the slight image blur through the rearview mirror. I've wondered if the camera view on later models was better.

I don't like the image quality of the camera-fed view. I appreciate that it's adjustable for zoom and such, but it just has a "fake" look to it that bothers my eyes. I agree that the view through the windscreen is degraded as well, but my windscreen is up 100% of the time (even if the top is up) so I'm completely used to what that looks like and it doesn't bother me.

and i used a tiny dab of black high temp silicone RTV to attach it to the vinyl placard on the bottom of my visor. works very well.
