Track mode lap times
Is anybody else beside me having issues with lap times from their PDR. I have the "Track" PDR overlay, and one session it will show lap times, and next 3 sessions it won't ???

could be an issue of where you marked the finish line. First time on a track I always mark the finish after completing the warm up lap. I did it once from Pit exit and I never got times.

Keep in mind when you mark the line your lateral distance from where you will be crossing at speed.
I've seen some guys have problems when they mark the start/finish as they come out of the pit. They are often 50-60 feet offset from where they will cross the line while running. I keep a 'master' .map file on my computer that I copy to the SD card before the track days. As long as I have run the track before, I don't have to remember to hit the button. That button can be stubborn with gloves on.

Do I have to mark start/finish every session or just once and done?

Once per track. The .map file, once created, lives on the SD Card in the PDR. If for any reason you format your card or use a new card, then you have to mark the start/finish again.

I, too, keep a file folder of the map files for every track I go to and change it on my card for each event depending on track. If you set your start/finish at Mid-Ohio, on one card, you can go do events at Mid-Ohio all summer long and never have to re-mark the start/finish, using that same card, as long as you don't go to another track, say Pitt Race, with that same card and mark a start/finish. If you do, and you go back to Mid-Ohio in this example, you will have to re-set the start/finish, or you will never get the system to set lap times because it will be looking for the Pitt Race start/finish. At least, how my 2017 works, that's the way it is. |

Yup. Sorry, OP, I thought I was clear about that, but realized after I read again, I wasn't. The .map file is overwritten every time you hit the 'mark' button. It only stores one track at a time. I keep a .map file for each track I run in the folder with the PDR/GoPro videos from that session. If you have a .map file and you don't know what track it is, you can open them with google maps. Have fun! Thanks for the clarification, Mountain.

I just bought more 32G cards and mark each one for a specific track. Just gotta remember to switch it for different tracks. The mark button has been inconsistent for me, so this way is more reliable.
