Boosted6th Build Thread

Starting this a little late, but I'm planning on uploading in a timeline fashion. We're doing a build with a magnuson PD blower all while testing fuel system components along the way. The goal was to not resort to methanol/race fuel and to stick to a pure e85 setup. We will be getting as much as possible out of this setup prior to installing heads and cam. I'm using Maximum Velocity Motorsports in San Antonio, TX for my build. They have and continue to be awesome throughout the whole process.

Fresh off the lot! Got her on 5/30/16 and was crazy excited. Although multiple people told me to never buy the 1st year of a new generation car, I didn't listen. No room for negativity here! This had been on the lot for about a week or so. Picked it up as a 2SS fully loaded, aside from the body kit pieces. The front plate was an eye sore, but the dealer said they install them as soon as they get off the truck I had tint put on within the next couple of days, which was much much needed in this Texas heat.

I had ordered a CAI intake before I even had the car in my possession. Definitely a good kit, but we may be swapping out for a rotofab after we get the next portion of the build taken care of. I had no intention of doing anything more, but the mod bug definitely bit me. The system was super easy to install, but I didn't really notice any differences in power. Throttle response was affected, and it did cause the dreaded "intake whistle". Either way, I was/am happy with this unit.

It had been a while since I bought parts (a while being 2 months lol), so I decided to jump on the dark tail lamp train since everyone else had been doing it. It really did add a nice touch to the car. The red was nice, but it stood out a lot compared to other parts of the car. Along with this, we did tinted the side markers and de-baged pretty much everything except for the front bow tie. Made the car look at lot more clean.

Now the fun stuff. Got the Stainless works 2" headers with the x-pipe to stock NPP mufflers and my EFI Tuning Flex fuel sensor. The header quality was really top notch as well as the flex fuel sensor. Car made ~480whp/~480wtq on this dynojet.

Blower came in 4 months after I ordered it. That was a headache all on its own, but the good news is that it's in and finally going on the car! Install was pretty straightforward, we straight bolted it on. Results were what I expected. Car made 60xwhp/60xwtq consistently with a 30% ethanol content. We did baseline the car and it made 460whp and 460wtq on this mustang dyno with an 82% ethanol content. The low side fuel system was having trouble keeping up with anything more, so once it came off the dyno I ran straight 93 which was kicking out about a 15% ethanol content. So about 140whp gain while remaining on pump gas. There was no doubt in my mind if we could upgrade the fuel system, the car would see so much more power. But in the meantime, the car felt amazing. Smooth and drove like stock.

Up next, gauges. I was running around for 2 weeks without measuring any parameters. Ended up with an HP tuners nGauge and an AEM wideband. Both together make for a pretty sweet setup. AEM monitors AFR and the nGauge can be setup to monitor up to 6 parameters. I had the AEM setup with an aeroforce gauge pod to complete the look. I'm using a suction cup mount on the nGauge since the A/C mount was too low for my liking.

At this point about a month has passed and who would've thought I already want more power. In the meantime, my buddy that owns Vehicle Wraps Texas here in SA did a gloss black roof wrap. Ended up buying some 305/35/19 NT05R's to be able to put the power down. Go figure they still spun in 2nd gear. 3500 miles later and these nittos were gone. Ordered some new meats and tires 17x9.5 w/ 305/45/17 MT ET SS. Haven't had a chance to try them yet, but I'm sure they will do a better job.

Car went back in the shop 7/4/17 to install a set of LT4 injectors and a DMS Low side fuel system. Keep in mind I already had the LT4 fuel pump in, and was using the OEM low side fuel pump. Car made about 675whp on 58% ethanol before the LT4 high side fuel pump took a dump on me. So we are in the process of planning out what to do next. We want to suck out as much power as possible before throwing in the heads and cam, so we're looking into getting another LT4 pump and throwing what we can at it. Car will be down for several weeks now, but I anticipate to be well over 700whp, especially once we throw on the smaller pulley.

Update:

Car is still down. After a long day of tuning, we hit the "reduced power mode" at ~680whp. Initially we thought something was wrong with the fuel pump, so we swapped it out. Ended up not being the problem Now we're speculating it's the lt1 sensor, so we'll be swapping that out today for the lt4 fuel pressure sensor.

Matt with DMS has been a huge help. We'll be testing an even bigger pump next week.

Matt is the best! Bigger low-side supplemental pump??

Nice build, I bet a rotofab and ported TB might also help.
