I guess ill either sell it (because there is clearly nothing wrong with it) or drive it until it stops running.
I am confused. GM low limit is 22 psi and your car is sitting at 21 psi...…. Doesn't that mean that you passed GM's threshold for having an issue?

Here is my advice, if you really like that car and would like to keep it, I would remove whatever aftermarket mods you may have done to it (if it's not too late, since the dealership already looked at the car). Then I would drive THE HELL out of the car until the oil pump or something else gives out.

Then bring it to the dealer and get a new motor put in under warranty.

If you never really intended to keep the car for a long time, then sale it while you can. Just be as upfront about your issue as possible.

Make a decision either way soon while you still have plenty of warranty left.

Good luck and keep us posted.

That low oil pressure alarm is the first thing I setup because if I ever see it lit up I'll know something has changed immediately.
Many owners may not be aware that you can set oil pressure thresholds vs rpm in the calibration so this can act as an early warning in those circumstances that the pump failure is slowly dropping oil pressure. Those of you who are already “tuned” can take advantage of this compared to those that don’t wish to “tune” their cars.

I have tested this and it works. Pic below is the table calibrated to bring on the warning at oil pressures below 50psi at 512-1024 rpm. This was done as a test. Second pic is it working, oil pressure is at 32psi however due to the minimum warning set to 50psi at idle rpm the warning chime/display comes up.

You can re-calibrate these rpm thresholds higher than the OEM settings to give earlier warning of possible oil pump failure.

Take it to CarMax and get rid of it before it blows up.

You can get top dollar for it. $$$$$

Or trade it in for C8 Vette or GT500.

Just keep in mind that just because the pump fails, doesn't mean the engine is done. Mine failed and they put a new pump in and it's been fine. Don't stress about it.

Disappointing response from GM. It’s lower then their own designated lowest safe oil pressure and they still deny anything is wrong. But, not surprising.

Just out of curiosity, how much would it cost to pay out of pocket to have the pump replaced with an updated version? Might be a way of keeping a rare and otherwise excellent car with confidence. I mean, guys will spend $2k-$3k for a paint correction, PPF application and ceramic coating appointment and that is purely cosmetic.

Also, if you paid the dealership to remove and replace the pump, and then have the faulty pump in hand, with visible proof of the cracked gear, couldn’t you then revisit GM warranty services with irrefutable evidence of the defective pump and request reimbursement?

Just ideas. That’s what I am working out in my head in the event I find myself in a similar situation as you.

mine is a 2021 with 1,000 miles now. Changed oil at 500 miles and now at 1000 miles. I noticed that when I swapped to 15-50 since ill be tracking it next weekend. my hot oil pressure dropped. What kind of oil are you using? I put mobil 1 15-50 and now its much lower than what it was with ESP 0-40

Also we do some logging and oil pressure doesn't spike above 40 until about 6,000 rpms and up.

this is exactly what I did - but changing the oil back to 5w-30 did not put the oil pressure back where it was.
this car is a toy for me - i drive it maybe 4 times a month, and take it to the track 2+ times a year.

a concern of mine is what will happen the next time I change the oil to 15w-50?

17s and 18s are probably all ticking time bombs, most owners don't put many miles on these cars - who knows, 19+ could be next

Do we know for sure when GM began to make changes to the oil pump, how many changes were involved and the months/years these changes were made. At one point there was a discussion that the oil pump was changed in late 2017 I believe, but failures after that time period have continued to be documented. Mine is a January 2018 build and, although my oil pressure has always been good, never any hiccups, I am always concerned about the odds that I have a ticking time bomb too.
