hell the gauge doesn't even work in my jeep cherokee. hasnt worked for the last 100k or so. odo shows 368k now.

Build date is 7/17.

I changed the oil last night; no change in pressure. Doesnt build pressure either - it doesnt go over 40 psi. Im goign to drop it off at service today.

The oil actually only had (3) 20 minute outings on it, the tires were shredded before noon so I couldnt finish the weekend.

Good call. I've never seen my oil pressure that low so I'd be concerned if it were mine. Good luck.

My ZL1 has oil pressure like yours nighttowl under hot idling conditions. My ZL1 build date is 4-10-17.

The list keeps getting longer. GM needs to recall 17s and probably 18s for junk oil pumps. Who knows, 19+ could be next

Well GM won’t do a recall so I just have to wait until the oil pump fails. Still keeping my fingers crossed that mine doesn’t fail but it doesn’t look good!!

I just dropped it off at the dealership.
I dont have a lot of confidence that they will do anything.
The first question I was asked was "Why do you think its low?".

I would buy the updated pump and have a quality Chevy builder replace it.

Dang, very disappointed reading this.

Just keep in mind that we don't have normal old-school pumps in our engines which build pressure linearly with RPMs like you might be used to. We have variable vane pumps which maintain certain pressure levels and is controlled by an electronic solenoid, mainly to improve gas mileage. GM determined that there's no real need to have 70+ PSI of oil while you're cruising on the highway, but if you put the engine under a load, the solenoid will move the internal "parts" of the oil pump to make it start producing higher pressure. It's kind of an ingenious design, but the earlier versions of it were prone to cracking as we all know. I do kind of wish they had just put in a regular pump, but, EPA........

My point is not to pay attention too much to the oil pressure at idle unless it's getting below 20 psi. What really matters is where it's at while you're cruising or while at WOT. Plus, slight oil pressure differences are going to be a little different car to car, and we don't exactly have NASA-level gauges so I wouldn't put a whole lot of faith into what the gauge is telling you.

I get this; but my car lost 10 psi of pressure over 3 days (120 miles) and doesnt build more than 40 psi.
clearly there is a problem.
I stopped over there yesterday to drop off new tires, but they havent looked at it yet.

Besides - i paid 82k for this car delivered - I should not have to look at the oil pressure gauge for at least another decade.

I purchased a used 2017 2SS about 2 months ago. CarFax showed that it had to have the oil pump replaced.

If they don’t do anything then that’s when you contact GM directly. I brought mine to the dealer for an engine noise and was told it was normal. I contacted GM and explained that I’ve listened to other ZL1s and none of them had the noise my car had. They authorized a supercharger replacement shortly after. I think it should work if you explain that the pressure doesn’t match up with the readings on other ZL1s. This issue is well documented with GM so I think you have a good chance.
