correct, and location down to the zip code, and the better the zip code, the higher the premiums. when two $50K cars collide it's much more expense than when two $5K cars collide, so the richer the area, the higher the premium.

It's an interesting topic that has so many variables.
I'm in SF/Northern California - where zip codes can mean a lot. My base auto policy is 500k combined single limit (I have an umbrella as well). Full coverage with 500 deductible, 53 and no tickets. New Car Replacement coverage as well as OEM parts endorsement coverage and rental car. Safeco is my insurer. I have UI/UIM coverage to limits as well - that costs a LOT. Wife did have an at fault total this year. Zombie tree on meth in a parking lot attacked her (newish 2015) 4Runner..... Bought her an overpriced new 6cyl Outback to replace it - nice enough - still 33k + tax and stuff is a lot for a Subie - but it has all the safety stuff, leather, etc. So I'm around 1,800 every six months for the Camaro 2SS and a 3.6 loaded Outback. Subie is around 700 so the Camaro is 1,100 x 2 = 2,200 a year = 183/month. Safeco says the 2SS is a "high performance" vehicle - I mean come on now....it's not like it has 455HP or anything....LOL. The problem here is the aftermarket parts. Case in point a woman crossed a double yellow a couple days ago and almost nailed me in the drivers side. With OEM replacement I can get the car restored perfectly. Without it they screw us around with Linda's bumper shop and crap like that. I do need to shop it - problem of course is wife had an accident, but reality is I play the game. When new car replacement expires I'll get "better car replacement" and keep the OEM parts endorsement. If I get nailed and there is mechanical (i.e., engine compartment, suspension and powertrain components are compromised) that runs the settlement costs very high. Not for everyone - but I paid cash this year for both new cars (three actually - some other guy totaled yet another new Subie - RIP) so for peace of mind I'll eat the differential. A couple thousand dollars over five years - meh, for me it's OK. I'm not made of money - we just save for things like cars and every 10 to 15 years we get new ones. 80 grand ish in one year is a hell of an outlay.

There are a ton of factors that go into it. For what it's worth I pay 103/month with a 500 deductible on a paid off 17 1SS. I'm 32 with a few points, she is 28 with an accident last year. It's defiantly more than my other two cars. 65/month for a 2010 GMC Canyon and 85 for 17' VW GTI.

Meanwhile, it's $220/m for people to insure Camrys and Civics where I live. My bud has an absolutely clean record and pays $208/m for a 2017 Focus.
Lowest quote I got on a 2SS with just minimum state required insurance was $109/m. With 100/300/100, 50/100 UIM, and $1k deductible, it's about $188/m for a 2SS at the absolute cheapest with Progressive if you pay the premium upfront. Other quotes I was getting were $250/m or higher. I even had one at $497/m... I have an absolutely clean record, never even been pulled over. It's stupid how expensive insurance is here, but I guess having 1/4 accidents involve fraud will do it... |

My insurance is shockingly cheap in my opinion, $77/month on a household policy with a few other vehicles. It's actually a few cents less per month than my former 2014 Cruze, go figure. |

Here in California - at least my area the UI/UIM coverage is the major single cost. I keep it at 500k and thence to 1m on the umbrella. I wanted to go 2m on the umbrella - but Safeco won't write UI/IUM over 1m - so why bother. If I has a swimming pool it would be different but basic liability of 1m is plenty.

My 2017 ZL1, full coverage, $75.36 per month. I'm married, 63 years old, my wife is mid 50''s. I do pay State Farm about $800.00 per month. But that covers the following.
2 homes 5 cars & trucks 3 motorcycles 4 life insurance policies We recently bought a second home in AZ and I was going to register a few of the vehicles there. They looked at my rate and could not believe how inexpensive they were. He told me if I were to register my vehicles in AZ I could expect an increase of $200-$300 per vehicle every 6 months. No Idea why such an extreme pricing difference state to state. Maybe proximity to Mexico?? Not sure, we are about 3 hours north of Mexico. |

Looks like his $180 a month isn't as outrageous as I originally thought, even though I am paying way way less.

Hell I'm 24 and pay about $170 a month for my 17' SS 1LE and 17' Colorado ZR2, both full coverage, but I have military discount through Geico. For all the Military on here, check Geico before going with USAA depending on your age/driving record Geico is probably cheaper.

For just the Camaro SS, I pay a total of about $1099/year. This includes collision, comprehensive with zero deductible glass coverage, and assorted other recommended coverages.
I live in a suburban area, have a clean driving record, and am old.

Well, if an old faht, and having a good record, seems like you ought to have a better rate than that. I'm in western MA, and am paying abt $65/month, but paid it all at once.
