Maybe that's a going rate for autox, but if i had to pay $100+ for 8 laps of anything (Ring excepted
 ), I'd take up flying lol

That's ridiculously expensive for just autocross. Of the 11 clubs local to me SCCA typically gets 6+ runs for $50-$60, most of them get 10-12 runs. Although if you don't have to work it's slightly better but still expensive.

The event runs on time, you schedule your runs in a 1/2 hour window (4 runs) or an 1 hour window (8 runs). Between not having to work, and the value of my time, it's worthwhile to me.

i agree its the closest auto x track to me and the arrive and drive aspect is pretty good i work monday to friday so spending the whole day at the track and not racing all day sucks sometimes lol
