Got my set and they are 5016 date code which makes them just a little older then ones I got direct from Goodyear in April. The PS4s are a great tire for the street.

Exactly! I have 16 MY on my fronts and managed 2 new PBs on them. Defo NOT any less grip vs earlier prod dates i have run in the past 3 yrs...

I purchased another set just in case they run out before I need new tires.

I would say most people are recommending them because they don't typically track their 1LE. The Mich PS4S is a track capable tire, just not as good as the Supercar 3. The PS4S however, will handle the wet weather much better and should have a longer tread life (obviously depending how you drive).

It definitely handles the water better and has WAY better tread life.
I personally didn't buy a performance car just to compromise it with inferior tires.

I'll be eventually be switching to the Michelin PS4s to eliminate the "compromises" the Goodyears bring to the table when driving on the street.

What compromises?
Do you live somewhere with bad weather?

lol
Yeah.

We can get quite a bit of rain, a few months of below freezing drive time, and roads that don't allow for the ultimate performance the Goodyears can provide.

The Goodyears are probably overkill for PA driving conditions.

Any performance lost with the Michelins wouldn't be noticed as those limits probably couldn't be reached on these roads, but the improved wet performance and wear would be welcome.

If I tracked the car, or we had better conditions, I would use nothing but the Goodyears as all the performance benchmarks were set using the tires designed for the Camaro.

I live in wonderful car weather
No need for wet traction here
