SS 1LE outruns GT4 and 458 Italia at MT Hot Lap!!!

I challenge anyone to tell me the 6th gen Camaro 1LE's aren't the best performance value IN THE WORLD (Jeremy Clarkson voice)

heres a link to the H2H thread.

Ive been saying for a long time, the SS 1LE is by far the best bargain. Stuff like this proves it.

What was the time they posted before? I think it was when they did the ZL1 Ignition episode that they also ran an SS 1LE, was that at Big Willow instead of Streets of Willow?

Also I've been saying for a while that the 1LE should be faster than a Cayman GT4 haha but keep in mind that in their Laguna Seca lap times that the 1LE is 3 tenths slower than the GT4 and 1.5 seconds slower than the 458...

Here is a video of me and a GT4 at NJMSP. It was my first time on track with the camaro and I didn't know how to turn the traction control off. It was still very easy to overtake the GT4.

I have lots of seat time in both a GT4 and the SS 1LE on track. A well driven GT4 is a touch faster than the SS 1LE, same driver same day.

100k is going rate for a GT4. New they varied from 90-110k depending on spec. My dads old GT4 with carbon buckets and full leather was 101k new. Another great example of how insane a value the SS 1LE represents. Also, my dad sold his GT4 to buy a ZL1 1LE. He’s never regretted the decision.

I was shocked to see the GT4 had such a poor time. I wonder is the GT4 and 458 had worse track conditions or if they were on inferior tires. Don't the GT4s have the option for sport cup 2 or super sports? That might explain the differences.

All GT4's came w/ Cup 2's or a Dunlop equivalent (Race Max I believe), aka, OEM track tires. Streets is a super technical track, and GT4's out the box understeer WAAAAY more than the SS 1LE. With optimized alignment, GT4's turn great... but not as delivered from the factory. So I'd guess its a mix of track conditions (who knows what temps were like when they set the GT4 time/very technical track that favors a car that doesn't understeer as much.

Seemed like MT really wanted the Mustang to win their challenge (which you'll know is par for them if you've seen the ZL1 vs. GT350R episode), but in the end even they couldn't argue with the 3+ second gap between it and the 1LE. Made me proud.
