New 2021 Camaro ZL1 Arrived - A Few Questions so Far (and Pics!)

My ZL1 arrived last week and I picked it up on Weds. It's amazing! It blows the doors off my 2018 Mustang GT Premium w/ PP1 and MagneRide from an overall performance and feel standpoint. For more of my first impressions, see my vs. thread: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=589687.

It is a shadow gray metallic, A10, CF hood insert, Nav., and CF shift knob cover (pics below).

That said, I have a few questions so far:

1. Is there a way to display IAT and manifold air temperatures (i.e., upstream and downstream of the supercharger)?
2. Teen driver mode (for when I drop it off for tint next week): Does this mode reduce power? Is the top speed set point adjustable?
3. I can't really hear much difference between sport and track exhaust levels. Is track just a tad louder? Is it simply that the valve is opened a little more on track vs. sport so the actual sound volume isn't much different?

Thanks!

Congrats. Looks awesome.

Wait till you can open her up after the brake-in.

1) There was a way using Android Auto & Torque Pro to have the infotainment display PID’s. That was on the wired version. I hear now the new ones are wireless only. I know someone working on it, but no luck as of yesterday on his ‘21.

2) As I recall I think the top speed is adjustable. There is also Valet mode IIRC.

3 in the settings menu you can have exhaust sound to auto or set to which mode you want. The valve control, from what King & others have posted, is RPM by gear. Track has it open the longest time in the most gears.

Add: I checked & mine says 85mph limiter with no apparent adjustment.

To expand a little on what gtfoxy said about the exhaust, the valves are either open or closed across all the modes. They don't open different amounts - the modes just control at what rpm they open up, along with several other variables like coolant temperature, etc. Technically they actually control when the valves close, since open is the default configuration.

For example, when you first start the car up from cold in Sport it will be idling with the valves open. Switch the mode button to Tour and you'll hear the exhaust quiet down as the valves close. Once it's idled for a few minutes the valves will close and even Sport will be quieter until you drive it and get the rpms up a little bit.

Also note that the valves are always open at startup in any mode to minimize back pressure on the engine, except there is a way you can force it into Stealth mode to close them right before starting the car. There are several threads on that subject, mainly by owners with close neighbors and early-morning jobs, but I've never tried it myself.

If you want the car to start up a lot quieter in Stealth Mode, before you shut it down before the next start, go into the infotainment screen, select Home>settings>driving mode>engine sound management, then select Stealth. It will remain in stealth until that is changed to another mode or Auto (auto is tied to the console rocker switch and sound follows whichever mode is selected). On the next startup, it will still bark a bit but it’s way less annoying to your neighbors.
That seems like a lot of button selections but it’s pretty quick, like 5 seconds to do all that, and once you know how to get there it’s easy.
Note in the driving mode settings you can force any of the modes to lock in regardless of the other modes or the console rocker selection. For example you might like the Track steering feel all the time, but want tour mode for MRC on a long highway trip. Just select steering to Track in the Steering menu and you can use the console rocker to select Tour for the MRC, but the steering will stay in the tight-feel track mode.

Looks fantastic, you have been patiently waiting, congrats!!

If you have PDR option, you can set to valet mode with a password. It will record when car is running. So while not limiting performance, you can watch where and how it was driven.

Only took about an hour to tint my sides and rear window while I waited and shot the shit with the guy. I don’t like leaving my baby to be fondled by anyone without me present if possible.

Congrats one more time on a wonderful car, Idaho.

Almost everything has been said that is to be said about your questions, just to give you a few more details:

- although valet mode is the one designed for this use case, if you choose teen driver mode, the speed limiter is fixed to 85 mph, but there is a configurable warning level and you will get a "report card" afterwards with detailed event counts (overspeed, ABS, collision alert, tailgating alert, traction control, WOT etc.)

- in addition, you can track the vehicle in the myChevrolet phone app that is also your remote controller with more features than buttons on the key fob

- as stated above, the exhaust valves are "binary", their state is controlled by a table with a current gear and an rpm axis, so the difference between modes is simply tied to how "willing" the ECM is to close them
