Wax or Sealant Recommendations

Hello all,

I just got a 2015 Camaro SS Commemorative edition in Ashton Grey. Questions is what wax or sealant does everyone recommend for this color.

Congrats on the new car!

Is your car a daily driver, garage queen, or show car?

Going to be driving it daily unless it snows or ice.

Ok first thing you need to do is check the paint using a thin plastic bag, a sandwich baggie without the ziplock is good. Only do this after the car has been washed. Gently rub your fingers across the surface inside the plastic, if you feel "bumps", the car needs to be clayed first.

It's also a good idea after claying to use an Iron removing product like Iron-X.

Completing both of these steps will allow your sealant to bond to the paint properly.

There are lots of good sealants and waxes. Adams, Blackfire, Menzerna, and Sonus all make good sealants that are easy to apply.

I don't use wax during the winter, the wax I use is more of a "beauty" wax and doesn't have a lot of durability. The Collinite 845 is actually sold as an "insulator wax", but behaves more like a sealant than a wax. It's very good in harsh weather conditions.

When it's warm enough to 2 bucket wash your car, Adams H2O Guard & Gloss is an incredibly easy product to use, and lasts at least a couple months, and adds gloss too.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend a PPF (paint protection film) for the front nose cone of your car, this will protect it from rock chips. Some people like to do the hood, rockers, side mirrors as well.

I would also recommend rock guards for your front tires. After having my car for only a week, I had small chips in the gill areas. No new chips after installing guards.

So I ended up using some P21s. Not sure about the longevity of the wax though.

I use Adam's Liquid Paint Sealant followed by Adam's Buttery Wax for my cars as they stay outside.
My mother picked up a 2015 Cadillac XTS, the dealer did a great prep job on it, but I put on a coat of LPS because she has a garage. LPS lasts for a while so I won't have to do her car again until spring.

Hi,

Don't have that color but have been using turtle wax ice paste since I got mine over a month ago. Happy with the results and no problems using it.

Anything for darker colored paints. Big fan of gold class myself or even their hi tech no 26 wax which has better protection when compared to a straight wax. If you want a good sealant check out Collonite 845 (liquid insulator wax, has good protection that rivals sealants). Another option I like is Duragloss 111 as you can apply it in the sun and it has some polishing abilities. Lasts about 3-4 months on my car.

You should try Adams H20 Guard & Gloss on top of your Adams Paint Sealant. It will last longer than the Buttery Wax, also help maximize the longevity of the LPS. It's very easy to apply after a wash, and it lasts at least 2 months. Also makes your car easier to dry, it sheets very well.
