Any other Vette guys buying Camaros?
I've most recently owned C6 and C5 Vettes, and had planned on upgrading to a used 2006 Z06 in a few months. While the Vette is awesome, I just kind of feel like doing something other than a Vette for my next toy...and after seeing a IOM 2SS black striped Camaro yesterday at the local dealer, I might have to go this route instead. After being around the Camaro for 30 mins or so, I couldn't believe how "plain" the row of Corvette's looked when we walked past them as we were leaving.
However, I think we can all agree that the Camaro's performance doesn't quite match the Vette's, and certainly doesn't match the Z06. But, really, who uses that extra 20% power/handling etc. of the Z06 on the street anyways? Since the Camaro will be cheaper, I should have quite a bit more mod money available(i.e. Magnacharger, Pedders Suspension etc) What kind of track times/horsepower do you think a Maggied LS3 would put out...enough to outhustle at least a Z51 Vette, all the while turning more heads and really pissing off the Mustang boys? |

Had my heart set on a Camaro. Either restore a first gen, pick up a used '98-'02, or save for a new one. Recently came across a '02 Z06 and I may end up going with that instead if all works out.

I was all set to get my new C6 4LT when the Camaro bug bit me. I can't wait to get the twins installed and suprise an unsuspecting victim.

Vette
I have had a few Camaros in the past, and a bunch of vettes. Thats why I have been doing a lot of reading and info gathering. I am looking to see if there is a good enough reason to change over from my C6 to a new Camaro. It would be a weekend car(like the C6).
I have tried the local dealers, none have one yet for me to see and sit in, drive. I will keep checking with them to get more info. I like what I have read and seen so far.....

Camaro or Vette guy?
I understand what you mean about seeing all the Vettes on the lot next to the Camaro and the Camaro sticks out. The design for the Camaro is rather fresh while we have been seeing this current Vette body style for much longer. You see Vettes every day - not that the desigh is booring or anything but it just isn't unusual to see them.
Am I a Camaro guy or a Vette guy? I guess I'm on the fence - I like them both. It's all GOOD! -Mark. |

I have a C6 and have ordered a 2SS. I ordered the 2SS because I have 2 young children and a wife and I haven`t been able to fit all 4 of us in the C6 yet...Lol..I`m keeping the Vette, it won`t get driven much, it doesn`t now for that matter, I have an SUV for day to day kid hauling. The Camaro will probably get driven more than the Vette, I wanted it to take to car shows/ hangouts w/ the family, Church on sunday...ect..as it stands now we have to get a sitter to go to a show in the vette...or drive 2 vehicles, or just take the suv.
I have owned a 79 Firebird, 1989 Camaro, 1996 Trans am and 2 Vettes now. I don`t understand trading a newer 05+ Vette for a Camaro, as the Vette`s performance is way better, unless you have a family now. Or better yet get both like me... Not to mention resale, in a few years will always be better on the vette, there will never be but so many of them due to price, in 2 years I think the streets will be flooded w/ v6 maro`s, (what a great looking bargain performance car at 23k for someone looking for something sporty).

With deals like these I doubt it - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-d...wont-last.html or http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-d...chevrolet.html
Unless it's someone with an OLDER vetter that just can't swing $39K to $41K Both are great car's their the respective audience. You and GM are a winner either way so what does it matter. Tom Last edited by TomServo; 05-07-2009 at 07:10 AM. |
