I have mentioned in other threads about the ease of blending E with whatever you get at the pump. I do not know about CA, but it is easy to buy a 55 gal barrel of E98 here in Oregon (I purchase mine from Tyree Oil and it is delivered to my house.). I read my E content and fuel level percentage off my Banks gauge. I have an ethanol blend app on my phone that is very straight forward. I add the required amount of E and head to the the gas station and tell them to add (yes, we cannot pump our own gas.) x gallons of premium. This has worked well for me. It might be worth a try for you.
That sounds great... if my car was tuned I would have switched to E85 immediately, it's basically held the same price though the inflation spike and it's race gas. Any issues with E98 storage, do you have to use it up fast? Does the 55 gal barrel prevent water absorption / contamination?

Also, how much is a 55 gal drum of E98 per gallon?

Thanks!

I go through a barrel in about 5 weeks. I have had no evidence of water absorption. Even in the rainy season, I leave the pump in the barrel and it is not air tight. The last barrel I bought in March (cars been down for mods) was $5.01 per gal.

Seems like a fair price and I would be ok paying that, is $5/gal the normal price for E98 due to it being 98%? I think E85 is still under $3.50 here in CA, but it's usually not quite 85%

I can only speculate, but I think that you will get a better grade of fuel buying it by the barrel and a more consistent percentage of E content. And remember, it is inexpensive to install an ethanol sensor and our cars love E!

It is inexpensive to add the flex sensor yes, but it is a pain in the rear to add a boost a pump to the tank short of replacing the low side pump itself. That's really what's stopping me from doing the "conversion."

I did the JMS booster myself and it really isn’t that bad. There are a couple of decent “how to” videos that help a lot.

There is that, my friend. But really, with all the excellent videos on how to install the JMS - it is easy.

So what, all you need is a pump voltage booster for the low side and not an auxiliary pump like I was thinking you needed?

Exactly. Flex fuel sensor, JMS voltage booster, headers, LT5 throttle body, Roto Fab and some plugs. That will make you a whole new monster. And of course, a tune.

The JMS might not be enough for you as you are making 2+ lbs more boost stock. You can probably use the JMS but with lower E concentration.

I told you to just drill The tank

Sorry, I missed the pulley you are running. But what camaro1973 said is spot on. I had no pulley and was running 60% E. He is already helping you, so it would be easy for him to tune you to the proper E content.

What I didn't realize is that we can digitally increase low side voltages via HPT. I looked and am set to 15.5 currently, with the highest supposedly being 16.5 before the pump doesn't like the extra voltage and starts dropping off. Think it's worth even doing any of that? I really am not trying to go excessive on E, just enough for it to put it into a level where it doesn't knock anymore without having to get fancy with where I can fill it, or having to rely on octane booster all the time.

It's a 9.06 lower pulley. Mike knows his stuff!

I may have just been coincidence, but I set my JMS to 15.7 volts and shortly there after, my low side pump took a powder??

You still need the booster for the actual voltage, not only does it increase the voltage it makes it consistent.
