IOW this is the internet, we don't know jack*** about the actual details, so we shouldn't dispense judgment. The comment I made earlier was pretty generic in that sense.

After it's all said and done, get yourself a good accident attorney and you may have yourself a C8 corvette!

What is an acceptable reason for completely blowing a red light? Judging by the damage it wasn't like he rolled through at 20 MPH either. He went through that like it was a green. Most people do not deserve to be able to drive, but due to how the US infrastructure is designed, we have to lower the bar so just about anyone is allowed to.

Suing everyone is kinda whats wrong with America.

I agree with everyone else, sue the **** out of the little POS because "justifiable homicide" might be just a bit extreme. If he was ok with endangering the lives of everyone around him because he couldn't be bothered with paying attention to a traffic light then he has no business behind the wheel. So I say sue him so hard that his offspring will feel it.

Sorry for your loss OP, and even more sorry for all the mental anguish that you're going to be put through because of this person's carelessness. There's going to be more headaches to come. Good luck getting everything done.

‘Technically’ you can replace a girlfriend. It’s, at times, frowned upon ;-)

Sorry for the loss, man! Time for a new one!

Glad you both walked away from this! This is why I don't ride motorcycles anymore. Nobody pays attention anymore.

So sorry and glad you both are generally OK. Distracted driving is a dangerous societal menace and generally agree about too much litigation, but you have to sue to recover fair value and be compensated for your time, injuries and loss of property. I am pretty sure his insurance company will not make a fair offer for all of these things to you.

Sorry to hear and I'm glad neither of you didn't get seriously hurt from this.

I too was a victim of a driver that was texting and they totaled my 06 GTO back in 2011. If it wasn't for that, I know I would still have the car. It was great.

I would have sued but since we both were military, there is a law forbidding a military member being able to another military member in a situation like that.

Just be glad it didn't turn out any worse than it could have but I would still sue them.

You're not getting the money from the driver but from the insurance company. So don't feel bad because it'll be the insurance company you'll be going after.

You could probably sue them, But you cant squeeze blood from a turnup. Your assuming he's rich?

Apparently God’s way is to turn the other cheek but then throw insults?

No wonder I’ve basically left every car forum, you can’t have any thread without politics or religion coming up. Congrats, you managed to do both where it isn’t needed.

What law is that? Is that what the other guy told you? Ha.

To the OP. Hire an attorney to get the full value of your vehicle, your time, and any incidental bills you incur.

God's way also apparently involves poor grammar and spelling (and stereotyping).

Gordon is naive. The other guy's insurance company has a vested interest in minimizing any payout. This will be particularly relevant for a somewhat unique vehicle like a ZL1 and current market prices. An attorney will assist in ensuring, at minimum, all costs/losses are covered.
