APEX Wheels | Introducing Our Forged Sprint™ Line - Our Lightest Wheels

Our forged Sprint™ line was built to be extremely light while still offering a meaningful strength increase over our flow formed wheels.

➡︎ 10K ton forged 6061-T6 aluminum

➡︎ Stronger Sprint™ spec inner lip

➡︎ Side-milled spokes for reduced weight

➡︎ Massive brake clearance

➡︎ Independently tested and certified

Finishes

10K Tons Of Pressure

Our new forgings weigh as much as 120 pounds before machining. To form such a thick blank we require special equipment capable of 10,000 metric tons of pressure. This extreme pressure increases the strength of the aluminum by eliminating porosity and improving the grain structure.

True Motorsport Blanks

Many companies use 3rd-party blanks intended for non-motorsport wheels which can severely limit sizes, concavity, spoke design, and critical brake clearance. We designed our very own blank profiles from scratch which gives us total control over the final product, resulting in exceptionally deep spokes and stronger designs.
Learn more our true motorsport blanks.

Side-milled Spokes

One of the most significant upgrades to our Sprint wheels is the addition of wider and deeper side-milled spokes. Any excess material that doesn’t add strength is carved out using a precision CNC ball cutter. Side-milling is often deemed cost-prohibitive by others, but for true performance without compromise we believe it's essential.

➡︎ 40-50% Wider
➡︎ 50-100% Deeper

Learn more about our wider and deeper side-milling.

A Stronger Lightweight Wheel

Our forged Sprint™ wheels are lightweight without the strength compromises found on typical lightweight wheels. First, we carved out as much material as possible, then we purposefully added one pound back to reinforce critical areas, creating a stronger inner lip and a higher load rating.¹ What’s the point of a lightweight wheel if it’s fragile?

Weight Optimized

We conducted extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to reinforce high-stress areas and to remove material where it didn’t improve strength. The result is a wheel that is exceptionally light without the strength compromises found on typical lightweight wheels.

Independently Tested

We don't rely solely on computer simulations or unverifiable in-house testing. We believe independent testing is critical to protect consumers in this unregulated industry. We chose STL, an independent lab in Ohio, to test our Sprint™ wheels far above JWL standards, including increases in testing duration, impact drop height, and total load.
Learn more about our rigorous independent testing.

Tough Inner Lip

Introducing the Sprint™ spec inner lip, with a unique channel profile that makes it even stronger than our previous designs. So even though our Sprint™ wheels are pounds lighter than comparable flow formed wheels, the inner lip is stronger.

➡︎ 32% more reinforcement than our flow formed wheels.

Learn more about our Sprint™ spec inner lip.

Big Brake Clearance

From day one, APEX has been on a mission to build wheels that clear big brakes. Our new forged wheels are the product of everything we’ve developed over the past 10+ years, including an innovative high-clearance barrel design and vehicle-specific spoke profiles.

Deeper Concavity

Our new forgings were redesigned to create extra deep, concave spoke profiles. Their new shape allows us to make any profile, from flat to deep and everything in between. Each one is optimized for a specific application using 3D laser scans of factory and aftermarket brake kits.

Paintless Knurled Beads

Whether it's a day at the track or months of street driving, repeated hard braking and acceleration can make a tire slip along the bead seat and go out of balance, causing vibration. Knurled beads help, but are less effective when painted over. Our forged line features unpainted knurled beads that stay sharp and maximize grip.
Learn more about why our forged wheels have unpainted knurled beads.

Built for impact sockets

Track wheels need track tools. Don’t settle for wheels that require undersized tuner lugs or thin walled sockets. All APEX wheels accommodate over-sized race lugs and impact sockets to make swapping wheels lightning fast.

Laser-Engraved Specs

As track enthusiasts ourselves, we know how frustrating it is to try to locate and decipher wheel specs that have been hastily hammered into the rim or become unreadable over time. With our new Sprint™ wheels, we chose to invest a little extra and laser-engrave the specs on the barrel, in plain sight, making them easy to find and read. (You’re welcome.)

Crazy to think, but this is our first ever, in-depth video about any of our wheels.

Our engineering team put 2 years of hard work into our new Sprint Line and the forging dies that made them possible, so we were compelled to create a technical video that dives into the details. This video has a lot of great content our product descriptions don’t include. After watching, we’re confident you’ll truly appreciate why these features are so valuable.

If you're craving more content, this should quench your thirst.

Awesome! Waiting for your VS-5RS in ZL1 1LE specs to drop. I was told sometime in December/January. Will you guys be offering them in other finishes other than the 3 finishes on your site? Thanks in advance.

The initial launch will just be the 3 main finishes shown for the 18" wheels. In the future we can expand to other options if the demand is there.

Paging Camaro owners in the Bay area! If you're interested in free professional photos of your car on brand new APEX wheels, we are looking for volunteers for test fitting and photoshoots! Volunteers will get copies of the photos, a discount on a set of APEX wheels, and APEX goodies/swag. If you're interested in volunteering, please email us at info@apexraceparts.com with your contact information, location, and a photo of your car. All are welcome. Show us what you've got! If you'd like to take an inside look at what these photoshoots involve, our good friend Blake made a video detailing the process of an 18" test fitment on his F82 M4 recently.

As we kick off the last four weeks of this Group Buy, we wanted to touch base to let you know that our first wave of production is right on schedule. This means we are currently on track to fulfill your orders in the timeframe outlined on the fitment table under the overview tab. Things could always change, but everything is looking better than expected currently.

As a reminder, if you have only expressed interest and have not pledged, you're not officially a part of the deal to receive wheels. With nearly 400 members interested, some popular fitments and finishes will sell out in the first production run. We’ve already placed a restock order and it should be here pretty quickly, but we have not decided if we will cancel backorders or if we will allow late participants to get the discount and receive wheels from the second shipment. Be sure to come back and submit your pledge to lock in your order now to avoid the rush that always happens in the final week.

Technical Note
As a group of track enthusiasts and racers, we understand how frustrating it can be to bend a wheel in pursuit of a PB or podium finish. Whether you find yourself 4 wheels off track on a safari excursion or creating your own driving line jumping treacherous berms, wheels are put through a tremendous amount of stress and abuse in the process – sometimes simply being forged isn’t enough to avoid bends.

To mitigate this, our engineers made a concerted effort to reinforce the inner lip of these motorsport wheels and created our stronger, Sprint™ Spec inner lip design. If you haven’t already, we recommend you read our technical writeup on our Sprint™ Spec inner lip.

After an hour of click research and not being able to quite figure out exactly how to spec and pre-order a set of EC-7RS in your Antracite finish for a 2022 ZL1 1LE, can someone from your company just PM me to get this done? Camaro is being built in a few weeks and the spare wheel \ tire needs to be ready to bolt on at delivery if possible. Thank you. Cool wheels but can I actually get a set for a ZL1 1LE built and delivered?

I spoke with someone from APEX. They currently dont have these wheels in 19" ZLE specs. Only 18" specs. Their 19" ZLE specs will drop in January from what he told me and they will also have a special group buy pricing.

Thanks for the update. Will the group buy pricing require registration on their website?

I am not sure about that. But I'm sure APEX will post up the group buy on here once they release the ZLE 19" specs. I only found out about it from APEX on IG.

Hi, this is a technical thread so per forum rules we're not allowed to post links to purchase, pricing, things like that. Sorry you had a tough time earlier searching for it. The pre-orders will be going live in January as mentioned above through our Group Buy format, which offers at least $400 off the set and free shipping. If you want to be notified immediately when that launches, you can enter your email at the bottom of the home page on the site, blue box. We don't spam you with annoying stuff: https://www.apexraceparts.com/

The Group Buy does require registration for getting a pre-order in, but it's very simple and all the instructions will be provided on that page. Tires will not be offered, so I cannot help there, but all wheels come with center caps and are compatible with the factory lug nuts.
