Unhappy Removing NPP muffler big mistake

Hi Guys,
After hearing the great exhaust sound of a friend's 2020 Mustang GT, I got jealous, so I followed the quick cheap route recommended by many on You Tube and on the forum of removing the NPP exhaust, now I'm very repented, when I start my SS in the morning a very loud shotgun explosion from the exhaust wakes up my wife and neighbors and while driving it still cold for 10 minutes a strong humming noise is heard from the back that would leave my ears ringing, until the car warms up is more bearable but now I need to drive more like a granny and go 1 or 2 shifts over to don't get the attention from the cops. The shop did an amazing job even looks oem, but probably after a week of driving it I would go back to the shop and install my NPP muffler back. It was just a waste of a $100 of removing it and probably another $100 to install it back. Going cheap VS getting a decent axleback exhaust is not always the best.I

I don't want to pay 400+ plus labor for an aftermarket axleback exhaust. Is there any resonator installation solution to this issue? So I can keep the NPP muffler delete option but to be more bearable and to sound better than the NPP exhaust but without going the axle back exhaust route $$$

NPP delete will have no affect on cold start bark. Even stock exhaust has it. And the valves will be open on start up regardless of if you parked it in Steath mode the night before.

Some quieting tips:
  • Park the car ass in.
  • If you have an A10, as soon as you start it up in the morning, put it in D or R and sit there with foot on brake for a minute or 2 until she settles down.
  • If you have a M6, well.... sorry.

I sold my Bolrlas (S-Type) because of early morning start ups. Went back to stock with a couple of $10 sleeve clamps, so keep the stock exhaust!

Agree with keeping the stock NPP exhaust. If you want it louder then pull the fuse(51) and set the exhaust to track mode and the valves will be open most all the time!

If you pull the fuse, the exhaust will be open at all times regardless of driving mode, you don't need to be in track mode for it, it'll sound identical regardless of drive mode.

Due to the LS/LT motors firing order our cars will never sound as good as the Ford V8's. I almost bought a Mustang for the sound alone.

As with most things, exhaust sound is pretty subjective. My coworker has a 2019 mustang GT with quad exhaust and he says mine is louder and sounds better. Go figure.

The one that I test drove was a GT with the PP1. Don't know if the exhaust is different, it sounded very similar to a Shelby GT350 that I previously drove, probably it had less exhaust noise compared to the Shelby

You can actually curb the cold start bark if you turn the car on (hold the start button for 5 seconds without your foot on the clutch or brake) and then toggle the mode to Tour or Snow. This will close the value that opens up when you turn the car off. They do that so the valve doesn’t become stuck shut during storage. I do this when I need to leave early in the morning and don’t want to wake up my neighbors.

I thought you had to put it in the Snow/Ice mode. I just pulled F51 and never looked back. I will start it with the garage door closed if it's very early in the morning to muffle the initial bark.

I did spend the money on Borla S-Type. The start up is loud. In the mornings, I typically fire it up with the garage door shut. All other times, I love it. It's especially sweet hearing it fire up from a distance in the parking garage at work!

It's not the firing order. It's the flat plane crank.
