Anyone have experience with ordering a Convertible?

Just wondering what kind of wait time I might have as compared to a std Camaro?

Ordered a RS convertible last week (I'm in Ontario Canada) and wondered if by ordering a 'Vert it adds time to the delivery. Not sure if they just go down the line like a normal Camaro or do they assemble the 'Verts in batches. Any constraints?

My last sports car is a C7(waited 5 months for that one) was looking at a C8 but not too big on a car with the engine behind me so decided to get a Camaro. My third one.

Back in the 1970's I ordered Z28 with a T roof and it added a couple of weeks to the delivery time as they built the car and then sent it to a supplier to have the T roof cut in.

Appreciate any info on delivery times I should expect here and in particular when ordering a Convertible. Any Cdns recently ordered a Camaro?

Thanks All !!

I don’t think you will wait any longer. I ordered my car on I believe it was Jan.21 2019. It arrived at the dealer on April 22 2019. I could be wrong but I don’t believe they are built in batches. I ordered a ZL1 1LE so there was concern about the tires and cold weather. The tires crack in freezing temps.

If I remember correctly, it was at most 2 months and this was during the strike.

Thanks , appreciate the info.

My C7 has the same summer tires and the concerns about cracking. I store it in the winter , it's a 2014, haven't had a problem over the 6 yrs. However it was one of the reasons I ordered the V6 , it comes with all season tires where the V8's are summer only. I will miss the V8 but the Camaro will be a more versatile car. We head to Florida in the winter, might actually take the 'Vert next year rather than the SUV. Couldn't take the chance driving the 'Vette back and forth in the winter months, we usually leave just after Christmas. Looking forward to the new Camaro.

Ray Cullen, London.

When I ordered my C7 none of the dealers in London could get me one being the first year of the new model, no allocations so I had to go to Toronto with Wilson-Niblett. That wait time was 5 months and it was expedited thru some contacts at GM. Don't think this one will be like that experience.

A friend of mine just placed an order for a C8 Corvette at Wilson-Niblett. He said they had 41 allocations.
I bet you’ll get the Camaro about May. They don’t come wrapped like Corvettes when shipped. Mine travelled in a very heavy rainfall. Dirty as hell when it arrived.

When I picked my C7 up at Wilson-Niblett the car was washed and prepped for delivery so never saw the wrap but know what you mean, seen the C7 on car haulers wrapped totally in white.

Nice car you have there ! My how far Camaro's have come, track times are pretty impressive.

Early May would be fine, weather doesn't get decent for a 'Vert until then. Next couple of weeks I will keep on the salesguy to make sure it moves from stat 1100 to 2000 (order accepted by GM). Once it is accepted by GM then I imagine it will move along as normal.

By the way I got a call from Wilson-Niblett (before the C8 was introduced) wondering if I wanted one, would I put a deposit down. Told them I wanted to see it first.

I was disappointed in the C8 actually, too many lines, too busy, the add-on trunk made the rear more Camaro like than 'Vette like. My wife hated it. So that is what got us looking at the Camaro's again. I get why many are excited about it, maybe it is the right car for the next generation owners. I loved the smooth lines of the C7, sold me on it the first time I saw one.

I was looking hard at the Z06. But then I ran across reviews on the ZL1. Then the ZL1 1LE. I ordered the car sight unseen. I had never even seen a ZL1. The performance of this car is really incredible for the money. Plus I have 2 kids so no real fights other than whose getting shotgun.
I never see other ZL1s but I do know there is a Blue ZL1 1LE that is local to me. My kids as well as friends have seen it. I have yet to see it and would like to meet the guy. After all, Stoney Creek isn’t very big. And here we have 2 ZL1 1LE cars not far from each other. GM brought fewer than 75 ZLEs into Canada for the 2019 model year. So for 2 to be in Stoney Creek is kinda neat.
I’m sure you’ll like the car. The platform is incredible.
It’s hard to behave behind the wheel to be honest.

Were down in Florida ( I did the deal over phone and via the internet, had two dealers bidding on it) went to a couple of dealerships close by to view some Camaro's, get it sorted out what to order. One had a ZL1 1LE ,a real beast, it wasn't a 2020. I've read the track reviews, great car, very fast lap at the Nurburgring. It did very well against the super cars in the latest Lightning Lap at Virginia Raceway last fall. Here that article...
