The R can't even beat the old z/28?? That's pathetic. They might as well skip this generation entirely with the GT500 until Ford's engineers figure out how to compete on something besides brand recognition.

Bob Lutz (senior executive at GM, Ford, and others) has a different take on this: "Mustang has always beat Camaro where it counts- sales numbers". Lots of truth in that despite that camaro is the better car...

If it was about sales I would suggest Ford start making Shelby-branded dinner plates and sell them to retired baby boomers on QVC instead of building overpriced and underperforming track cars. |

How dare Ford build and sell a car that seems to take a trackbpretty successfully and be one that buyers want? Back on topic, these ZL-1's are awesome cars. Especially at their price point, are they lugging around the same stupid ADM's that continue to plague GT350?

The 350r has beat the z28 on most tracks, but what's really noticeable is how close the 1le is to the 350r. The 1le has even posted faster times then the z28.

Ford fans still happy about beating the gen 5 Z/28, we're on to bigger fish and while using street tires.

Curious to see the GT PP2 and how it compares to the 1LE. Also curious to see if the GT500 will even be competitive with the ZL1 on a track or if it just another drag strip focused Mustang.

Some seem too quick on the trigger to downplay the competition at every turn. But you need that competition to avoid stagnation. So I say bring on these amazing cars, the more the better. Just as long as the manufacturers keep them somewhat within reach of those who will enjoy/use them to the fullest.

Ford's used Laguna Seca in it's branding of previous Mustangs but yet there's only one appearance by a Ford in the top 50 records on that track. Dodge and Chevrolet have made a productive effort to get their cars in there with the foreign exotics and usually at a much lower price point. Ford's presence in the upper echelon is almost nonexistent. It just seems like Ford's content to release special edition cars for collectors to fight over instead of truly competitive track cars that can run with the best. |

In this order:
1. Camaro ZL1 1LE 2. Camaro ZL1 Depending on the track: 3. Camaro Z28 / Shelby GT350R / 6th. Gen Camaro SS 1LE Behind all of them the regular Shelby Gt350, which proves that there is a huge difference on the R's lightweight Carbon wheels, carbon brakes and track tires which are fitted on that car compared to the stock one.
