Exactly. If you want the 2-3 to shift at say 6700 rpms and 6700 rpms is 65 mph. I'd set the shift mph at 61 mph and test it. See where that puts you. These are A8 settings, your A10 2-3 will be lower.

KingLT1 saw this thread and has solved my problem. Mph is the controlling criterion.

Did you ever get the 2nd Gear start figured out?

I checked, again, yesterday, but - at least with a T87A conversion, it is not possible to shift into 2nd Gear when the car is stopped. I have to roll to a stop, already in TUTD 2nd-Gear, in order to force a start in 2nd-Gear... This is still on the T87A converstion - I am not on a tuned T93.

Mine is a T87a. When I'm in TUTD (manual mode) and roll to a stop, it downshifts to 2nd and stops there. In Auto, it rolls to a stop in 1st. I now hear that this TCM can also be tuned to roll to a stop in 2nd and remain in Auto. I'm really not sure which is better for the strip. I have no problem racing like it is today, TUTD 2nd gear launch/auto shifts, or TUTD 2nd gear launch/manual shifts.

I'm sorry. I meant to ask if you're able to SHIFT TO 2ND FROM A STOP, from 1st. Or - do you still HAVE to roll to a stop in 2nd.

1st gear is deleted, so it moves forward in second gear from stop.

The transmission never downshifts to 1st.... It stays in 2nd gear.

How do you do this for the A8? Is it setting the 2-1 downshift mph to zero?
I’ve played with the trans settings for years and somehow never even tried to mess with that, even though 1-2 sucks.

Yes. But I THOUGT (I could likely be misunderstanding) people are reporting they can shift INTO 2nd from a stop. Can you do that, or is everyone saying they have to roll to a stop, in 2nd already, then they can make the run from 2nd?… Maybe I’m just not saying it right…

From my understanding A8 cars can be at a stop, go to manual mode and shift up into 2nd. I havent seen this possible on the a10 cars though. Definitely a software thing as the tuning tables we can see are fairly similar between the two. My 10r80 in my F150 can shift up to 2nd in manual at a dead stop.

Yep, you can definitely do that with the A8.

Same here, and I don't think it's in the tune, I didn't see any TCM change that appears be related. At the drag strip I switch to competitive mode, do a burnout in manual trans mode, then once stopped, I shift to 2nd, launch and slap the stick over to auto.
