Just to reiterate my point from earlier...

The 1001hp Bugatti Veyron (which is AWD) does NOT get to 149mph in the 1/4 mile. The best record is 10.2sec @ 142.9mph (Road and Track Feb 2007).

If THAT car can't do it, than we know the GTR cannot. So it IS a misprint.

'Ring times are always smudged, and none of us are that talented anyway, so its sort of a useless figure. It's like saying your Corvette can run the ring in X time... yeah, your Corvette with a F1 driver behind the wheel and with 100 tries! It's interesting, but only in an academic sense.

I'm interested to know more about its AWD system... it's an incredible bit of engineering. It has two drive shafts with a transaxle in the rear run by a dual clutch mechanism with active center and rear differentials! That's some stuff right there... Anyone know where a technical diagram or chassis photo is?

Anyway, its a beast alright... but if the GTR can just barely outrun the Z06 I wonder what the ZR1 is going to make of it?

chill bro.... Iam a hardcore domestic guy but I respect all cars!!! Hell I own a subaru sti!!! The skyline has always been a amazing car and its great that nissan isnt dropping their standards for the new one. Its going to be one of those cars that can give all the other highend sport cars a run for their money.

As for 1/4 in 11.7 and 149mph.... that cant be right. AWD cars usually have lower mph and higher times because they can get off the line faster without spinning but the AWD hurts them in speed.

watching and listening to that video, I can honestly say 3 things:

1. the car is more powerful than 480hp... more likely, 580hp... the acceleration on the straights and the way it pulls out of the corners makes me think that they had that car turned up something fierce.

2. that car is not on street tires... the "wet" spots would not have affected street tires on that track... but they would have affected slicks... that, combined with how the tires sound when they are in the corners, makes me think that this car has some big rubber underneath it.

3. that car is niiiice... the awd system is VERY well balanced... they have obviously put alot of time and effort into making that system adapt to fast speeds and tight cornering... something that previous generations could not always say.

all in all, I think that the new GT-R will be a helluva car... but some of the hype is undeserved... and some of the claims need to be challenged... anyone notice that GM, Ford and others have not challenged this time? nobody but Nissan is touting this as any kind of big achievement? if you were selling the Z06, the GT, the 997 turbo, etc., why wouldn't you, as a big manufacturer, call BS on this? I'm guessing there's more to all of this that Nissan is hiding... and that GM and others know about already... none of us are ever going to get the full story about this run... but it is real and it was done... but there is nothing to support the quarter mile run... maybe someone testing with a G-Tech Pro? lol

all in all, nice car and definitely world class... I wouldn't buy one, but its definitely going to raise the bar... especially for AWD cars

I don't think a professional factory test driver at the helm of an AWD car is going to screw the 60' that royally. I mean it is possible, but given what we know about their driver (pretty talented), the traction (pretty sticky in its AWD goodness), and the car (powerful and fast, but not so fast that it can wallow in the 60' before blowing through the quarter at 149 mph), I still think it is a typo.

Sure it is possible to go an 11 second with a 149 mph trap with bad traction....but not with 480hp and 3700lbs of porkiness.
