Do you use protection?
Rock chip protection, that is, for the front or lower body? If so, what do you use? Pics?

My car is my DD and has close to 7k miles on it already. I Xpel'd the front half of it without hesitation. It's a small price to pay to keep my 50k car free of rock chips.

Mine is also a DD, and don't use any film on mine. And I do have small chips here and there, but some of the locations of these chips are in places normal film locations would not have protected anyway.

Got a small rock chip after 200 miles. I'm very anal about paint so paid $50 to repair the chip after I bought the touch up from the dealer. And then paid $550 for the front bumper, headlights, and piece of the hood.
You won't be able to see the film (Used Suntek film) unless you're about a foot away from the car. Last edited by Richard0nee; 07-08-2016 at 01:04 PM. |

Can you still get a nice shine when you put Xpel on? You wouldn't want to wax over it would you?

Yes, you can. I took my car to my detail guy literately right after I bought it and his process was: Wash, paint correction, XPEL and then Cquartz coating. So you can coat the XPEL. I will say that it looks just as good as the paint but that the water beading (hydrophobic properties) aren't AS good as it is on the paint.

You can put and polymer seal over it. But the gloss in the eye of the beholder. Reason I don't do any film is I don't like the gloss on film as much as sealed paint.
