Tell me a little bit about your heads/ cam/ pulley/ flex fuel combos... traction?
Hey guys, curious how you guys are putting the power to the ground around town with a heads/ cam/ pulley/ E85 setup. These builds are making 650-750whp. On a prepped track with a 15" slick, I'm sure these cars hook just like any other car would with a soft bias ply tire. But on the street with a normal drag radial, how do these heads/ cam cars hook from a roll? Say a 2nd gear roll @ 60mph. Can they actually put the power to the ground? For some reason I don't see a lot of ZL1 roll race videos.

I got a few of them actually, but they'll ban me if I post. At that power level, you don't need a DR. The R888R will be just fine. Once you start creeping that 750 hp level, you'll need a DR for straight line bite. I do my rolls at 50 in 3rd. A 2nd gear roll at 60? Are you stoned? Haha.

I'm at 644 to the wheels and the stock tires are holding up fine once up to temperature and already moving. They spin to the moon on a hard launch, but they did that when the motor was stock too.

Well, yea, on a 2nd gear 60 roll, at 650, stock tires or the R888R will hold. I must of been lost. I thought he was saying at what point do stock type tires start breaking loose. Any kind of spin and it's a loss if the other guy is hooking so. I was just saying once you hit that 750 mark, you will need the R888R or DR. Once I hit 800, didn't matter what tires I had, they were getting blown off so. Had to go DR just to get grip. wtf. It's Yellow outside. weird.

I have 730whp on a mustang dyno with my 2018 ZL1 1LE.
Setup consists of ATI 10% OD / Balancer Pulley American Racing Longtube 1 7/8 headers with catless 3” pipe Custom cam grind 0.63071 / .62185 Rotofab intake Tony Mamo Ported TB Prospeed Heat Exchanger HX Bumper reservoir Stainless Works Axle Back FlexFuel And all supporting pieces like titanium valve springs, lifter kit, hardened pushrods, low side fuel delivery, dyno tuning etc. 1st and 2nd gear with the SuperCar 3R are prettt much useless. Have to feather throttle. On the freeway above 70 traction is decent but still some noticeable wheel spin as the car will definitely wiggle a bit if you mash it. I’ve tracked the car at tracks like Buttonwillow, Chuckwalla etc and when the tires are warm they grip good but you never get that sort of heat on the street. I don’t want drag radials so I will be running R888 for the street. Last edited by Jason18ZL1LE; 06-18-2018 at 09:34 PM. Reason: Typos |
