Cut out rear Chevy logo

Hey guys, I saw someone do this about a month or so ago, his name is escaping me atm. Anyways, I figured I'd try it too! It's super easy, gotta pry the emblem off, then get a couple clamps to hold it down to a workbench and start dremeling away. I left about a 1/8 lip around the inside, just in case my cut wasnt very straight. The inner black part actually is pressed into the chrome piece. I noticed half way through, if you can pop that off first, it may be easier to cut as it wont be as thick. Finished hollowing it out, then I put a sandpaper attachment on the dremel and sanded it down untill it was nice and flush. Hot glued some electrical wire onto the bottom of it, to act as a stand. (Painting it while its resting on the ground will create a fogging, unsmooth finish around where it is resting) Wiped it down with alcohol, then proceeded to paint, just used an all in one, gloss black, aerosol can from walmart. Let it sit for a couple days just in case it needed extra time to cure/dry. Got some 3m double sided tape from ace, (make sure it's not the permanent kind) laid the tape onto the emblem in two strips and cut around the edges with scissors and a hobby knife. This was the most tedious task for me as it's a pain trimming the adhesive in small strips. Then I made sure the trunk was clean, and I gently set it on, not press. Took a step back and had to make some adjustments, but it easily moves as long as you don't apply much pressure. I absolutely love the look of this, so simple but such a drastic change. Thanks to the original poster for the idea! Sorry there aren't more pics, I didn't plan on doing a half attempt at a diy lol.

Looks super slick, and your paint job is great, too One quick question, though, how are you gonna keep the inside clean without scratching up the paint?

Thankyou sir, much appreciated! With a microfiber bunched up to dry it, my wash mit has a ton of little fingers in it, so should be good. I also use a leaf blower to get all those hard to reach areas.

I originally felt the same, just remove it, but after seeing it, something was missing imo.

That looks super clean...I think I will be trying the same thing with mine. Going with a Blk and Bronze look, so going to see what it looks like when installed...
