I have the ACS on my ZL1. Pricy, but look OEM and are frankly way better looking than the other options.

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like no one set of rock guards is perfect, but IMO the ACS looks to be the best of the group. It should, it costs twice as much, but then I'm not going to cheap out on an almost $80K car.

The ZL1addons set looks good, but I don't want to use the metal barbed clips which looks like it would cause rust. The Rokblokz goes on without any modifications, but the huge washers and big stainless screws stand out like a sore thumb.

Of all of them the ACS are by far the best looking and look closest to OEM if GM had come out with rock guards. The rear go on without a hitch and even are molded to go around the ground effects on the ZL-1 without leaving a big gap. The same for the front. The only thing I don't like is that you need to drill three holes in the front liner. I really wanted to get by without drilling any holes. I'm just too particular in things like that, but I guess having three holes in the liner as opposed to getting paint chips, the holes are the lesser of the two evils. I may look into possible installing them using only 3M double sided tape. I've used that before and it is awesome.

Anyone ever install the ACS using 3M tape only and not drilling any holes?

I have purchased - but not installed the Zl1 addons guards - and I'm wondering something similar: Could I add some extra 3M tape for the fronts and avoid the clips altogether?

I have the ACS on my ZL1 and couldn't be happier! I am like you as far as drilling into the liner. I am not what you'd call an excellent mechanic, so I was VERY worried about drilling and riveting the front ones into the liner.(Rears require no drilling/riveting)I just took my time(probably longer than most people do), made sure they were lined up properly with the grooves, drilled and riveted. They came out better than I thought my skills would allow and are very secure. . So basically what I'm saying is, if I can do it, anyone can!! .
Sorry. I can't speak on only using double sided tape since I took the plunge and drilled/riveted mine.
You'll be happy you went with the ACS. I have no regrets. .
I also agree, that you spend 70/80k on a car, don't cheat out on cheap stuff to protect it. I laugh at those that complain about $400 when they spend 70K or more on a car...not to mention, those that mod their cars are USUALLY spending way more than $400 for more power...

I've seen the ACS rock guards for $200. That's about double what many others are, but still a lot cheaper than repainting chipped up body panels, not to mention how all that body damage affects the value of your car.

The ACS look pretty easy to install, I just have this thing about drilling holes in my ZL-1. I want to keep my Camaro 100% stock and original. Sometimes I wish I weren't so particular, but that's just me.

I have seen an awful lot of cars in general that have been modded and they look fantastic, but it's just not me. Twenty years down the road I want mine to look just as it looks now, just like it came off the assembly line. The only mods I want are those that be removed with no signs they were ever installed and the original parts reinstalled, or those like these rock guards that protect and keep my car my car in pristine condition.

I'm not knocking anyone who does mod their car, but like I said, that's not me.

Totally understand and agree! I'm keeping mine pretty much stock... basically like you said. I want to put back on the factory stuff like it was never off there in the first place.

Well, there are rock guards that look very good (for 4x the price of a somewhat less visually appealing one) and there are others that actually protect the paint

Understand what you're saying , but I haven't gotten any chips from having ACS's on mine(if that's worth anything)? Honestly I think just like everything else(CAI'S, Exhaust, wheels, etc)..its just what people like and if it works for you, ya know?? . I respect people's choices and can only offer MY opinions and experiences with stuff that's on my car or productsi use or have used, as do you and everyone else I'm sure! No disrespect to anyone at all!

I have to admit the price on the ACS is pretty steep compared to the other choices. I could understand double the price because it is formed instead of being just a flat piece of plastic and it is also painted if you get the gloss black finish. Still $400
For me the ZL1addons is out because of the barbed clips and the potential rust problems. I did check out the Rokblokz product and it says "not confirmed for the ZL-1" which is what I have, and also "NOT designed for vehicles with Ground Effects" which the ZL-1 also has.
I did find a youtube video showing the installation on a ZL-1 and I'm not sure if it was the installer, but it wound up with all sorts of gaps in the rear. On the front the center screw takes a big metal clip and positions it on the backside of the fender lip and basically sandwiches the fender lip between the rock guard and the metal clip. That allows you to tighten the rock guard, but I wonder if the metal clip is going to cause rust on the fender lip.
To be honest, I don't like the way any of them are fastened to the car. The ZL1 addons has a potential rust problem, and the Rokblokz also has a rust potential, plus the huge washer and stainless screws look terrible. If they had used a smaller blackened screws they would at least look better.
And then the ACS requires three holes in the front fender liner, which I don't like but it's either that or nothing, unless 3M double sided tape would work to hold them in place.
I used to have a Jeep Wrangler that I put a bug guard on using 3M tape instead of screwing it to the underside of the hood. That stayed in place for years. So maybe it might be worth considering on the mud flaps too.

This is my thought as well. The 3M super strength molding tape seems like an ideal choice.

I have the Rokblokz on my car because I refused to pay $400 for some pieces of plastic. They work great and install was easy. As for the stainless hardware, I spray painted them black (before install) which blends them right in. I'd buy them again.

All good, guys. I certainly understand the appeal of the ACS part even though I wouldn't buy it, while I'm sure others can relate to my desire to protect the rocker panels and the underside of my great looking rear diffuser that took me half a day to install properly (with no gaps)
